Experiencia fantástica: In January, I was lucky enough to enjoy a week of hospitality and Spanish lessons on very short notice and with no hassle. Anja is a wonderful host with her open and generous nature. Yamiles is the best Spanish teacher you could ask for. She’s bursting with joie de vivre and energy. The course was well-structured, and I was able to learn a great deal in such a short time. In my opinion, it also helped that we could only communicate in Spanish, since Yamiles speaks only Spanish. The additional activities were great, too. The trip to a fantastic waterfall accompanied by Tonio was a special highlight. The building has everything you need and is centrally located. I highly recommend a stay at Anja’s stayandspanish to learn Spanish and immerse yourself in Caribbean-Colombian culture.

The facilities are super well kept, the atmosphere is very relaxed, and the Spanish lessons with Yamiles are the right balance between serious and good vibes bonus points for the two kind dogs and the two cats.

Ich habe unglaublich viel gelernt und mich von Anfang an sehr willkommen gefühlt. Der Unterricht war herzlich und persönlich, und man merkt, wie viel Liebe in diesem Projekt steckt. Besonders toll & lecker waren auch die kühlen Getränke oder Snacks, die es manchmal während der Klassen gab, sowie die Salsa-Klasse und der Kochkurs. Ein großes Dankeschön an Anja und Yamiles – zwei ganz wunderbare Menschen. Ich kann Stay and Spanish jedem empfehlen, der Spanisch lernen möchte!

The classes are very informal and the vibe is fun and relaxed. Teacher only speaks Spanish. Recommend talking to Anja about your level before signing up for a class :) But go there - It is great!

Experiencia fantástica: We had the best week at stay and spanish! The lessons were great and we learned a lot - the teaching is all in Spanish which helps. The activities were super fun and well organised and also gave us time to explore the area. We stayed at the school which was lovely - Anja and Anthony were very welcoming and it really felt like home for a week. The facilities are great and they keep it super clean and provide free tea and coffee all day. They also gave us lots of tips and help for what to do in and around Minca. Highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: My partner and I had a great experience here and we'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Minca that wants to learn Spanish. There are only two dorm rooms at the school, one with two single beds and one with three single beds, this is great because it means there is plenty of space for everyone to learn, chill and cook without it ever feeling crowded. All of the facilities including the rooms, interior and exterior communal areas are kept extremely clean by the team. The lessons are taught entirely in spanish, which is great because you are forced to communicate in spanish (admittedly sometimes with the help of translate apps ), which gives you lots of practice helping you learn faster. Each learning day has some kind of activity included such as, a hike to a nearby waterfall, salsa class, empanada cooking class, cacao workshop and a group outing to a lovely sunset spot. We found this really nice, as we are travelling and usually have to plan an itinerary for each day, but here everything was sorted for us, which was a nice break and we thoroughly enjoyed everything that was offered! We started with a very basic level of spanish but this has given us the basic vocabulary, grammar and confidence to carry on practicing in the real world. If you're going to be in Latin America for a while or if you just want to brush up on your spanish, this is the place to do it!

Das ganz Team ist super herzlich und die posiitive Energie von Yamiles ist im Unterricht richtig ansteckend. Die Gruppen sind angenehm klein und man hat schnell großen Lernerfolg. Die große Aufgabe, verschiedene Level innerhalb einer Gruppe unter einen Hut zu bringen hat super geklappt und Yamiles geht auf jeden individuell ein. Ich wäre sehr gerne noch länger geblieben…

Experiencia fantástica: Ich hatte wirklich eine wundervolle Zeit im Stayandspanish. Der Spanischkurs mit Yamille war sehr locker und auf Freundschaftsbasis gestaltet. Nach einigen Stunden haben wir bereits über alles mögliche auf Spanisch gequatscht, wodurch meine Hemmungen verschwunden und mein Vokabular sowie die Grammatik ausgebaut wurden. Ich habe auch in der Schule selbst übernachtet und habe es sehr genossen. Es ist alles da was man braucht und es gibt sehr viel Raum zum gemeinsam oder auch alleine Zeit zu verbringen. Ich hab die Schule leider erst am Ende meiner Reise besucht, sonst wäre ich sicher länger geblieben:)

One of the highlights for me was having private Spanish classes. My teacher was fantastic and struck a great balance between structure and flexibility. The lessons flowed naturally with real conversation and questions, which made learning feel relaxed and practical instead of rigid or intimidating. The activities were fun and well organized, and the overall atmosphere of the place is exactly what you hope for in Minca. I spent a lot of time in the hammocks, slowing down and actually enjoying being there. The dogs and cats around the property were super friendly and added to the homey, relaxed vibe. I also felt very safe during my entire stay, which made it easy to fully settle in and focus on learning and enjoying the experience. If you’re looking for a warm, social, and genuinely human way to learn Spanish in a beautiful setting, I can’t recommend this place enough.

Having traveled quite a bit in the Americas, I truly feel this is one of the best places to learn Spanish. Minca offers the perfect mix of tranquility, nature, adventure, great climate, and hospitality. You can connect with locals and travelers while still having peace to study. Anja and Anthony are suuper kind and funny, and their place is a joy to stay at. From the garden and adorable pets to an exceptionally well-equipped, clean kitchen. I can honestly recommend spending enough time here. And don’t forget to ask about hidden gems. Anja has great tips, and Anthony will show you around. Minca has much more to offer than you’d expect!

Experiencia fantástica: Wir hatten eine tolle Woche bei Anja, Anthony und Yamiles. Das Haus ist etwas ausserhalb des Zentrums und daher ruhig. Der Garten ist sehr grün und ein ausgesprochen schönes „Schulzimmer“ um mit Yamiles spanisch zu lernen. Die Ausflüge, Sonnenutergänge, baden bei Wasserfällen waren sehr toll. Vielen Dank. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen.

Experiencia fantástica: Ich habe zwei Wochen bei Yamiles Sprachunterricht genommen. Der Unterricht hat mir sehr gut gefallen, er ist sehr lebhaft und abwechslungsreich gestaltet. Die Schule ist wunderschön am Ortsrand gelegen mit einem tollen Garten. Der Unterricht findet im Aussenbereich statt und man hat immer wieder die Möglichkeiten die zahlreichen Vögel zu beobachten. Die zusätzlichen täglichen Aktivitäten habe ich sehr geschätzt, beispielsweise die Wanderungen mit Anthony zu verschiedenen, sehr erfrischenden Wasserfällen oder Kochen mit Yamiles. Minca ist ein kleiner Ort umgeben von viel Natur und bestens gelegen für kürzere und längere Wanderungen. Ich kann die Sprachschule wärmstens empfehlen. Danke dem ganzen Team. Ich hatte eine tolle Zeit!

Experiencia fantástica: Unsere Woche bei stay and spanish war wunderschön. Durch die Gastfreundschaft von Anja, Anthony und Yamiles fühlten wir uns von Anfang an wie zuhause. Die Ausflüge zum Tayrona Nationalpark, zerro kennedy, la Finca la candelaria waren atemberaubend schön. Die Geheimtipps von Anthony führten uns zu lokalen Wasserfällen, was sehr aufregend, abenteuerlich und wunderschön war. Spontan durften wir am Salsa-Tanzunterricht mit der privaten Salsalehrerin teilnehmen, was uns zwar aus der Reserve lockte aber sehr viel Spass gemacht hat. Abgesehen von den tollen Ausflügen und den Begegnungen mit lokalen Leuten in ganz Minca und der Umgebung, hat stay and spanish einen wundervollen Garten mit der Möglichkeit einzigarte einheimische Vogelarten wie den Tukan, Kolibris und viele mehr zu beobachten.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the perfect place to learn Spanish and, if you are a birder like me, to get up to speed with Colombian bird identification at the same time. I arrived as a complete beginner and with very little confidence in languages, but the combination of positive, professional teaching, forest walks, a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and the beautiful setting of Minca made the whole experience genuinely enjoyable.

Experiencia fantástica: Jag och min vän Fanny bodde här i en vecka och wow vilket ställe! Det var vårt första stopp på en längre resa och vi kunde inte ha önskat oss en bättre, tryggare eller roligare start. Vi var de enda gästerna som bodde där, men ibland kom det andra till spanskalektionerna och matlagningskursen. Vår spanska utmanades och förbättrades mycket tack vare Anthony som tog oss på diverse hikes, och såklart av Yamile och hennes spanskalektioner. Anja var inte där när vi var där, men hon var väldigt snabb och pålitlig på att svara på mail inför vår vistelse. Ett stort bonus var alla djuren: katterna Monaco och Kiara och hundarna Seus och Broly/Oreo. Tack Anthony och Yamile för fina dagar och för att ni har varit så varma och välkomnande. På återseende! Experiencia fantástica: Ich habe war für vier Wochen in der Sprachschule Stay and Spanish und habe mich von Anfang an wie zu Hause gefühlt. Die Atmosphäre ist sehr familiär, und man wird sofort herzlich aufgenommen. Der Unterricht war lebendig, abwechslungsreich und sehr motivierend gestaltet. Toll ist, dass Spanisch lernen mit vielen tollen Aktivitäten verbunden wird. Besonders schön waren die Kochstunden mit Yamile, ich konnte neben der Sprache auch die kolumbianische Küche besser kennenlernen. Anthony und Anja haben mir tolle Orte in Minca gezeigt, was viel Spass gemacht hat. Die Schule und Unterkunft ist sehr sauber und der Garten ist ein perfekter Ort zum Entspannen. Auch die Küche ist top ausgestattet. Was mir besonders in Erinnerung bleibt, ist die Gastfreundschaft und Hilfsbereitschaft von Yamile, Anja und Anthony. Ich kann diese Schule wirklich von Herzen empfehlen und würde jederzeit wiederkommen!

Experiencia fantástica: If you're looking for a place to relax, feel at home, and have fun while learning Spanish — this is 100% the place! I had the pleasure of staying at Stay and Spanish in April and May, and getting to know Anja, Yamile, and Anthony. The homestay is stunning and incredibly serene — homely, comfortable, and spotless. The beautiful garden is the perfect place to relax after class. There's plenty of seating, hammocks, space to do yoga or work out, a very well-equipped kitchen for cooking, a big table for shared meals, and the outdoor classroom is fantastic! Minca is probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. The nature is incredible, and the sunsets are unreal. Stay and Spanish is in the perfect location, surrounded by gorgeous walks in nature but still very close to the center. Yamile’s Spanish classes are amazing! She's a wonderfully talented teacher and such a lovely person. Her teaching style is dynamic — she mixes formal lessons with games, practical activities, and real-life experiences. During my time there, we did cooking classes, played language games, went on walks into town, and took shopping trips — all while learning Spanish in a natural, real-life context. I really enjoyed my conversations with Anja, she’s one of the kindest people I’ve met. She’s always interested in how your day is going, happy to offer advice or information, and genuinely cares about your experience. Anthony takes great care of the place and brings a light-hearted, fun vibe. I went on a hike to a waterfall with him, he’s very knowledgeable about the local plants, fruits, birds, and the best spots for seeing waterfalls. I also absolutely loved spending time with their pets (two dogs, two cats, and one chicken) and seeing all the beautiful birds (including toucans and humming birds) in their garden. Overall, my experience at Stay and Spanish was fantastic. I’m so grateful I got to spend two months with such amazing people in such a beautiful location. Thank you, Anja, Yamile, and Anthony, for making my stay so special!

From the very first moment, I felt at home and completely safe – it’s a place where you don’t just learn Spanish, but where your heart arrives too. I originally planned to stay for a short time, but I ended up staying six weeks – I think that says it all. The Spanish lessons were perfectly tailored to me – warm, playful, and full of joy. The classroom was outdoors but covered, with a beautiful view of the surrounding nature. It felt open and inspiring, yet sheltered – the perfect environment for learning. I also loved the communal cooking and shared meals. These moments gave me a deep insight into Colombian culture, and they made me feel part of something special. The whole place is run with so much love and care. Everything is very clean and thoughtfully maintained. Anja is a wonderful, patient and warm-hearted host – always there for any question or concern about life in Minca. You can really feel how much heart she puts into this place. And then there are the animals – each one with its own unique story of how it came to be here. They bring so much soul and warmth to the space and are just as much a part of the magic. Experiencia fantástica: I was lucky enough to volunteer at this school for a month and had the most wonderful experience. Minca is a small magical town in the mountains outside of Santa Marta ✨ and is an amazing place to relax, enjoy the simple pace of life, and learn Spanish. The Spanish classes are excellent and offer learning outside the classroom, for example, in the kitchen cooking or becoming familiar with local history at a museum. Taking classes while immersed in the diverse and cultural Spanish-speaking town greatly helped my fluency in the language. The school itself is Amazing, with hammocks in the back to relax and practice conversing with other guests, a Hollywood-style swing in the front to read, two open-air classrooms so you can learn outside with natural lighting, a nice clean and organized shared kitchen, and a pool table... because why not? Also, the animals are all sweet and kind and make the place feel just like home. While Yamiles teaches Spanish, Anja and Anthony do a great job running and maintaining the school, keeping it clean, and flowing with coffee and delicious food. I'm happy I had the opportunity to call Minca and this comfortable school my home for the time I lived there and highly recommend staying here to learn Spanish.

Experiencia fantástica: Während einer Woche nahm ich Unterricht bei Yamile und lebte bei Anja und Anthony in Stay & Spanish. Die Sprachschule ist mitten in Minca gelegen. Die Schule befindet sich auf einem sehr schönen Grundstück mit einem grossen Garten und bietet viele Rückzugsorte zum Verweilen. Die Atmosphäre in der ganzen Schule war sehr familiär und entspannt. Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt und wäre gerne noch länger geblieben. Die Lehrerin Yamile wandelte die Spanischstunden nach unseren Wünschen in Kochstunden um, Anthony und Anja zeigte mir mit viel Freude und Gastfreundschaft die Umgebung. Ich schaue auf wunderbare Wochen zurück, würde jederzeit wieder kommen und es allen empfehlen. Danke für eure Freundschaft. Saludos <3

The private lessons with Yamiles, who is wonderful, were engaging and creative. Would really recommend this school for a short or long term stay - plus Minca itself is absolutely beautiful and very convenient and liveable.

Experiencia fantástica: Just amazed by this wonderful Spanish school in Minca - a must stay in Minca. Anja made me feel completely at home - it was like staying with family. Jamiles was an incredible and hilarious teacher. The lessons were so useful and went by so quickly. I ended up staying even longer because I loved it so much. And there are hammocks to relax in, pool (billiards) to play and the beautiful outdoors to explore nearby. Anja and Anton also organised activities - from walks to cooking class.

Experiencia fantástica: Mir gefiel der Aufenthalt sehr gut der schöne Garten mit den Wildvögeln die guten Spanisch Lektionen und die familiäre Atmosphäre im Haus. Ich wollte gar nicht mehr weg und bin drei Wochen geblieben. Ich habe auf diversen Wanderungen den Dschungel durchschritten im Fluss gebadet viele unvergesslich Sonnenuntergängen genossen ‍ Beeindruckt haben mich die gelebten christlichen Werte der Kolumbianer. Ich musste mehr vor Schlangen achtgeben als vor unliebsamen Menschen. Etwas spanisch zu sprechen ist aber ein grosser Vorteil und stösst auf grosse Sympathie also ab in die Schule Stay and Spanish Gegen Sandfliegen und Stechmücken habe ich mich mit einem gewöhnlichen Öl eingerieben, das hat mich komplett geschützt Ich wünsche allen eine wunderbare Zeit in Minca
