Experiencia fantástica: I came to this school for one week of spanish classes, 4 hours per day at level B1/B2. The school is in a great location, it's a quiet residential neighbourhood with some restaurants nearby where you can get an economical breakfast or lunch before or after your classes. The school itself is very pleasant, clean and welcoming. I did my classes with Dayro-he is an excellent teacher. I felt that there was a good mix between learning grammar, and casual conversation. Dayro was receptive to my requests and we covered all of the content I was interested in learning. Additionally, he also used his experience and knowledge to identify and help me in areas I was not aware of that needed some refinement. Generally he is a very kind and personable guy and I genuinely could not have asked for a better person/teacher to study with. Furthermore, he was able to provide me with all of the local knowledge I needed: salsa classes, homestays, food recommendations, pharmacies and so on. I would highly recommend this school, because in my experience they are very flexible to meet your requirements and the price is one of the most economical I have come across. I have nothing bad to say about this place at all. I look forward to studying here again the next time I am in Cali.

It really skyrocketed my Spanish. The prices are also really good compared to other schools both in Cali and in other major cities, especially schools in Medellin.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been taking in person Spanish classes with my teacher Andres for the past 3 months and plan to continue with additional classes with him for at least the next 2 months. Andres is educated, extremely profesional and has years of experience teaching Spanish. I enjoy his classes. I have improved greatly to a level that I know I could not have done by myself (I tried). I have had other Spanish teachers in the past and his methods seem to click for me. At times his classes can be challenging and tedious, but at the end of the day the results are there, which for me is the most important. I would recommend Andres for anyone who is serious about learning Spanish. If I come back to Colombia I am giving him a call.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I moved to Cali several months ago and have each been taking individual classes with Lingua Viva 3x/week online since the quarantine started. At first we were disappointed that we wouldn't be able to meet in-person, but now we're completely happy with the online classes and have learned a ton. Daniela teaches both of us and we love her. She's patient and easy-going, and very effective in her teaching approach. We're at different levels and she has developed tailored curricula for each of us that have allowed us to make quick progress. She's also gone out of her way to be accommodating, friendly, and helpful as we are getting accustomed to a new city during this weird time, and her classes are honestly one of the highlights of our week. We've already done 20 classes each and just bought another package. Very highly recommended!

I went from about an A2 to B2, so a serious jump. The teachers are really passionate and committed, and will tailor the syllabus to your needs. For me this involved a lot of work related language. I also liked the communal atmosphere of the school - it felt like a home away from home. I also did Skype courses which worked well and helped me practice before a language exam. The price for the quality is frankly amazing value too.

Experiencia fantástica: I had the pleasure of taking private group classes with Andrés last week. I had been in touch with the owner of the school, Dayron, for over a month trying to find a group class at my level (Advanced Intermediate) as I was hoping to save some money over taking private lessons. I finally got lucky and another student signed up for classes. We ended up doing four hours per day in the afternoon from 2 - 6 p.m. for five days. Lessons were conducted in the larger classroom on the second level street-facing side of the building. It was nice to have a view and good air flow, and the street is quiet enough to have class with the windows open (there is no air conditioning). The classroom also has an adjacent bathroom so there was no need to take unnecessary breaks. We did have one 20 minute break halfway through each four-hour class. There was also a kitchen with complimentary coffee & tea. Andrés was an excellent instructor! He was very personable and would always take the time to answer any & all of our questions, even if they were off-topic. He quickly identified our individual weaknesses, whether in pronunciation, spelling, comprehension, etc., and made sure to correct us continually to help us learn. We moved through the lessons at a steady pace, not too fast or too slow. The picture I have included with this review is of myself and my classmate, Chris, on the right and Andrés on the left. On Thursday night which was Thanksgiving in the U.S., Andrés took us to a nice neighborhood in the southern part of Cali for dinner. We had a great time eating and talking about anything & everything. I highly recommend taking classes at Lingua Viva! I had such a good experience that I plan to continue my lessons with Andrés next week.

Andres quickly found the gaps in my knowledge of Spanish and insured that I focused on closing them. He takes his job seriously and expects you to as well. He focuses on verbs and vocubulary - and now just after 6 hours of private tuition, I am able to confidently construct full sentences and pretty much have a basic conversation with zero prior knowledge of Spanish. Lingua Viva is a great environment to learn and everyone is super helpful - for example, Dayron spent time giving me guidance on where to stay during my travels around Colombia. Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I had 10 hours of lessons over a couple of days whilst visiting Cali. We’re travelling around South America and wanted to be able to communicate in Spanish better than we were doing! We were both very much beginners but Dyron worked at the perfect pace, challenging and quick given the time we had but at no point did we feel overwhelmed and we both left feeling much more confident in our conversational and gramaical skills. I would definitely reccomend this language school.

Experiencia fantástica: I visited Cali and found this school. It was in an amazing location, the school was pretty cool and Andres was the best part. He was my instructor for 5 days, 4 hours each day. I knew a little bit of Spanish going into the class but I was very shy with speaking. By the end on the second day, I gained the confidence to speak Spanish when I wasn’t in class. I learned so much from Andres. I’ve never had such a fun tutor who kept me engaged in the class and completely kept my attention. When I didn’t understand something, he stopped and would explain in multiple ways so that I could understand. I would love to have classes with Andres again. ********************** Visité Cali y encontré esta escuela. Estaba en un lugar increíble, la escuela estaba muy bien y Andrés era la mejor parte. Fue mi instructor por 5 días, 4 horas cada día. Sabía un poco de español entrando a la clase pero era muy tímido para hablar. Experiencia positiva: Learning Spanish has been a hobby of mine for the past year. It has opened a new world that I was never exposed to and has allowed me to meet new people and visit exciting places throughout Latin America. I was inspired to do this as I have co-workers from Spanish Speaking countries who recommended that I try to learn the language and also this would be a great opportunity as I would have plenty of practice living in Houston, which has a large spanish speaking population. My first teacher was so inspiring and enthusiastic in her teaching method that I was eager to learn more. Her motivation, methodology and style was by far a great start to my journey. This led to an idea to seek programs in Spanish Speaking countries, which would only accelerate my learning. I had the pleasure to have great teachers over the past year that to this day, we still communicate as they are truly interested in hearing about my progress. One in particular was from my first immersion experience in Colombia. Based on this experience, I wanted to return to Colombia, but a different city. I heard great things about Cali and was very interested in learning more of the culture and the history of the city. I thought this was a no-brainer to visit a city that I was always interested in visiting and learning the language. LinguaViva was the the school that I selected and was really excited about the program and continuing my journey of learning the language. The facilities and the school was good, but the experience was lack-luster. I had taken the 20 hour private lesson option and after 4-5 days, I realized the teacher that I was matched with wasn’t the best person for me. One of the reason that I chose the private option was to have a specific lesson plan for areas of improvement for me. He did not prepare for the class and was confined to the structure of the book that was used. He rarely had exercises that were interactive outside of the book and at points of trying to make dialogue, it almost appeared that he was bothered by my questions. I admit that my spanish is not as advanced as most (an A2, possibly B1 level), which means that I have a way to go in terms of having a fluid conversation. I believe it takes an environment that fosters development and encourages students to help break through the barrier of learning the language and this was by no means the case with this teacher. There was at one point when I was mid-way through reading aloud a book recommended by the teacher, which was an advanced economics spanish book, that even put him to sleep. He literally had his head on the table as if he was sleeping. At that point, I tried to salvage the remaining time with him and consistently ask about his plan for the day, which his response was to continue with the book. I even had to bring in more interesting material for us to review during the class. I eventually mustered through the remaining days of the class, but it was almost a chore to go to class than a pleasure. I admit that I could have been more direct in expectations and communicated my concerns to the program director about the challenges that I was having with the teaching style. This could have led to a teacher switch that was more suitable to my style. I was able to communicate with other teachers during breaks and felt more comfortable interacting with them than my own teacher. I always try to find a positive in a situation and was able to pick up a few tips from him. However, I feel that this teacher was not the right fit for me. If you are interested in the school, I encourage you to have specific goals ahead of the program, communicate with the program director about your learning method and request a specific plan of an agenda that could be followed and if possible talk with the teacher. This requires a little pre-work, but trust me, it is worth it than to struggle through the experience that I had at this teacher.

Experiencia fantástica: Carolina is amazing and was so accommodating to my work schedule! The whole staff is great and the office was beautifully kept! I wish I had more time to dedicate to the classes but I felt I made a lot of progress very quickly with Carolina’s teaching... and patience :)

Experiencia fantástica: I consider myself so fortunate to have met the owner Dayron, who was able to arrange the exact type of classes that I needed, as someone who had long work hours and lived far from San Antonio. I have been having lessons with my tutor, Jorge (who I absolutely adore) both in person and on Skype, for several years. Jorge is unbelievably kind, patient, accommodating with my crazy schedule, and above all, as a university language professor, he is incredibly knowledgeable about the Spanish language and I greatly admire his teaching methods. I have advanced immensely and I hope to continue increasing my proficiency for years to come.

Experiencia fantástica: The great thing about Lingua Viva is that Dayron and his team are really trying to not only treat you like just another backpack cash mashine but welcome you like a friend and take great care of you - they invite you to dinners (and mean it!), take you along to cultural activities and show you around in Cali. All this is part of their integrative approach to learn spanish, which worked very well for me. Highly recommended for all skill levels!

My teacher Dayron is not only an awesome spanish teacher, he also is an amazing person. We made little day trips together where I was able to test my new spanish skills and also learned a lot abput the Colombian culture.

Experiencia fantástica: I would highly recommend Lingua Viva! I started with the free 30-minute online session because I was hesitant at first if it would be an effective way for me to learn Spanish. However, at the end of the 30 minutes, I was sold and purchased the 20 Pack.
