Experiencia fantástica: es una escuela muy buena con profesores muy competentes y amables! Yo aprendí mucho en mis tres meses allá. Las actividades que ofrece la escuela por las tardes también son muy interesantes y buenas para conocer la ciudad y cultura de Medellín. la recomiendo mucho!

Experiencia fantástica: I spent almost 3 weeks at Nueva Lengua in Medellín and it has been so rich with new learnings, friendships and a diverse range of activities which the schools offer. The school is located in a central and safe area and they also offer a student residency. If you are living outside the area there are good connections with public transport. Especially I am grateful for the enthusiastic, empathetic and friendly teachers & staff that acompanied us in the journey. They are very flexible in case you want to extend your stay or also switch to another nueva luengua language school in Bogota or Cartagena. Truly, I really appreciated your efforts, knowledge and engagement that you bring every day and it was simply fun to be in classes with you. It is an atmosphere of familiarity and inclusiveness that I haven’t experienced in many other language schools before. In general through the activities and also with everything the city offers, it makes it easy to connect with each other in- and outside of school. Muchas Gracias, fue una chimba!

Experiencia fantástica: This was the best language school I have ever attended. First of all, I'm a very adventurous person who loves sharing about cultures and experiences, so this review has a lot of bias. As someone who's studied Spanish across numerous language schools across the world, Nueva Lengua in Medellin was by far the best. The teachers were super accommodating and cultured. They were open to learning about new words and new subjects. I taught them new vocabulary and grammar, they taught me new vocabulary and grammar. I started at C1 and ended at C2 in my five weeks I enrolled. I wanted an experience that would teach me Spanish by correcting me politely when I was wrong. I also wanted to fill in some gaps in my education, like feminine nouns with masculine articles in the singular. This school did exactly that. I had nearly every teacher there but mainly was taught by Jairo and Adriana. They taught me new grammar rules like "vos" conjugations, and helped me fix misinformation that I was taught in other schools. They also teach entirely in Spanish and there is very little English in the classrooms, which I appreciated because I liked learning different sayings and new vocabulary. I also learned a lot about Colombia's culture and new slang terms. All the teachers recommended me locations to visit and foods to try and helped ensure my safety during my time in Medellin. I was never robbed, never pickpocketed, and never threatened in the city from their advice: all belongings out of pockets and into the backpack and backpack in front. Simple and safe. Regarding the cultural activities, I enjoyed them all. I loved the cooking class and everyone was super welcoming. I didn't like the dance class but that's because I don't like dancing. I enjoyed the tours of the city and the places we visited. I was even lucky enough to participate in the comidas del mundo event where I tried all sorts of food from everyone's home culture. All the events were well organized and fun too. For my lodging, I stayed with a host family out by Las Violetas. They were super nice and accommodating and I may have used too much water when showering... whoops. But they were great cooks and the dad does tourism so when my mom visited, he gave us a private tour of Guatape and other places. As for the students there, you will find a lot of "characters" to say the least. Some people were... interesting, but a lot of people I befriended and still contact today. I really had deep conversations with my classmates and we all went and had lunch together. It was normal, to, after class, go have lunch with a group of like 10, depending on who was there at that time. I felt super safe in that area of Medellin and it was always a good time after class, especially at Gringo Martes on Tuesday nights. Pero, lo que pasa en Gringo Martes, queda en Gringo Martes. However, as all good adventures, there are negatives to all the positives. Primarily, I felt like classes were a little bit combined at times. They combined levels occasionally that shouldn't have been combined. For example, one day of the conversation class, they mixed all the levels. For another, they put B2, C1, and C2 together because of the lack of resources. I didn't mind, though. I found it super fun to see where people's levels were and it really helped me appreciate how fun I came with Spanish; however, it was a pain for the lower levels who couldn't necessarily understand the activities fully. Additionally, I felt like the wifi was atrocious in some rooms. But I'm just being nitpicky at this point. I really did enjoy my time at Nueva Lengua in Medellin Colombia. I crave it daily and wish I could go back just to be with the teachers again. Don't be scared to go to Colombia! The weather in Medellin was comfortable, and safety precautions will be taught on the first day at the first day lunch, which is provided for free via the program. I highly recommend Nueva Lengua to everyone! Finally, Diana, I am not having more mcflurries. ;) And Eduardo, te gustan los perros?

Experiencia fantástica: Ich habe vier unvergessliche Monate an dieser Sprachschule verbracht und kann sie aus voller Überzeugung weiterempfehlen! Die Lehrkräfte sind nicht nur äußerst engagiert, sondern bringen einem mit viel Herzblut nicht nur die Sprache, sondern auch die kolumbianische Kultur und Geschichte näher. Der Unterricht ist abwechslungsreich, praxisnah und motivierend gestaltet. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich eine meiner Lehrer Adriana – pädagogisch hervorragend ausgebildet, mit einem großartigen Gespür dafür, wie man Sprache effektiv, aber auch mit Freude vermittelt. Ihre Kombination aus Fachwissen, Geduld und Herzlichkeit hat meinen Lernprozess enorm bereichert. Auch die von der Schule organisierten Ausflüge waren spannend und kulturell sehr bereichernd – perfekt, um das Gelernte direkt anzuwenden und Land sowie Leute besser kennenzulernen. Neben dem Unterricht habe ich wunderbare Menschen kennengelernt und viele persönliche Highlights erlebt – eine rundum tolle Zeit, die ich nicht missen möchte. Vielen Dank für alles! ! Los profesores son expertos, capables de explicar cualquiera pregunta (enserio) y cada uno tiene su manera de enseñar, asegurando que las clases sean divertidas y llenas de cultura colombiana. La ubicación en Medellín es perfecta: está fuera del área super gringa, pero todavía es segura y linda. ¡Es el lugar perfecto para mejorar tu español con clases, actividades, y charlas!

Experiencia fantástica: ch komme aus Deutschland und habe vier Wochen an der Sprachschule Nueva Lengua Medellín Spanisch gelernt. Der Gruppenunterricht war von hoher Qualität, und die Lehrkräfte sind durchweg motiviert, engagiert und sehr hilfsbereit. Obwohl ich als Anfänger gestartet bin, kann ich mich nach nur einem Monat bereits gut im Alltag verständigen. Besonders begeistert hat mich auch das Aktivitätenprogramm, das die Schule kostenlos anbietet. Dadurch konnte ich Medellín auf unkomplizierte Weise entdecken und gleichzeitig meine Sprachkenntnisse anwenden. Sehr empfehlen kann ich außerdem die Studentenresidenz: Die Zimmer sind geräumig, sauber und liegen nur wenige Minuten von der Schule entfernt – ideal für den Alltag. Zum Schluss möchte ich mich herzlich bei allen Lehrkräften und meinen Mitstudierenden für die großartige Zeit bedanken. Que chimba, una ciudad muy chévere.

Experiencia fantástica: Ich kann die Sprachschule in Medellín absolut empfehlen! Es gibt viele internationale Schüler – auch aus Europa, der Schweiz und Deutschland – und die Atmosphäre ist einfach super. Mir hat der gesamte Aufbau des Unterrichts sehr gut gefallen: die Zeiten sind optimal, der Unterricht ist klar strukturiert, mit gut eingeplanten Pausen, und man lernt wirklich viel. Die Lehrer sind unfassbar lieb, hilfsbereit und immer zuvorkommend. Wenn man eine Frage hat oder irgendwo nicht weiterkommt, helfen sie einem sofort weiter. Auch die Ausflüge, die von der Schule organisiert werden, sind großartig – man erlebt viel zusammen, findet schnell neue Freunde und hat einfach unglaublich viel Spaß. Besonders toll finde ich, dass zusätzlich Tanz- und Kochkurse angeboten werden, oft sogar kostenlos. Die Schule hat insgesamt einen sehr familiären Vibe, man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und wohl. Für alle, die Spanisch lernen, neue Leute kennenlernen und gleichzeitig eine unvergessliche Zeit in Medellín erleben möchten, ist diese Sprachschule das perfekte Gesamtpaket. Ich würde jederzeit wiederkommen!

Experiencia fantástica: Ich hatte eine schöne Zeit bei der Nueva Lengua in Medellín. Meine Spanisch konnte ich deutlich verbessern, die Lehrer sind alle professionell und sehr nett. Außerdem gibt es viele Aktivitäten nach dem Unterricht an denen man kostenfrei teilnehmen kann. Dabei wird einem dann die Stadt von den Locals gezeigt. Die Aktivitäten waren auch sehr gut um mit den anderen Leuten in der Schule zu connecten und neue Freunde zu finden :)

Experiencia fantástica: Ich bin aus der Schweiz und war für 6 Wochen in der Sprachschule NL Medellin um Spanisch lernen. Der Gruppenunterricht ist qualitativ sehr gut und die Sprachlehrer sind alle motiviert und sehr hilfsbereit. Ich kam als Anfänger und finde mich nach nur 6 Wochen schon gut im Alltag zurecht mit der Sprache. Das Aktivitätenprogramm, welches die Schule zusätzlich ohne weitere Kosten anbietet, hat mir sehr gefallen, es ermöglichte mir die Stadt Medellin auf einfache Weise näher kennnenzulernen. Auch kann ich das Wohnen in der Studentenresidenz sehr empfehlen weil es sie geräumig und sauber ist und desweiteren sehr nahe bei der Schule gelegen ist. Schliesslich möchte ich möchte mich bei allen Profs und meinen Mitstudenten herzlich für die tolle Zeit bedanken, fue muy chevere! Medellin es una chimba!

Experiencia fantástica: Je recommande l’école Nueva Lengua á 100%!! Alice-20ans-française J’ai passé 4 semaines à apprendre l’espagnol aux côtés d’excellents professeurs (Samantha, Marcela, Adriana y Jairo). Je suis passé du niveau 0 à un très bon niveau et je peux maintenant comprendre pratiquement tout et parler aisément. Les cours sont très bien structurés de manière à avoir suffisamment d’outil et de grammaire mais aussi de la pratique avec les professeurs et les élèves pour progresser. Les professeurs te mettent à l’aise dès le premier jour ce qui permet même pour les plus timides de se sentir bien dans une atmosphère idéale pour apprendre l’espagnol ! Cette école correspond pour tout le monde, il y avait des élèves de 16ans jusqu’à 50ans ! Il est très facile de sociabiliser peut importe ton âge ou ton origine ! Après les cours du matin, l’école propose des activités (Visite de musée, jardin botanique, Comunna 13, cours de danse et de cuisine) l’après midi tous les jours de la semaine pour permettre aux étudiants de découvrir Medellin où j’ai pu me faire de très bons amis ! Ces activités sont très importantes à mon sens pour créer du lien et apprendre encore plus d’espagnol ! Pour conclure, je recommande vivement cette école aux gens qui veulent apprendre l’espagnol et qui sont de passage à Medellin, des professeurs excellents qui sont soucieux de bien t’apprendre et une ambiance conviviale au sein de l’école qui rend l’expérience de la Colombie incroyable ! Experiencia fantástica: The 4 weeks I spent at Nueva Lengua have been such an enriching experience. I improved my spanish radically and benefited from the different styles of teaching. Its the perfect learning environment to improve your skills. Besides the academical improvement, it was the teachers and staff of nueva lengua that made my time exceptional. Experiencia positiva: Mi profesora, Diana, fue excelente!! Desearía haber podido continuar con ella un tiempo más. La semana de clases se acortó con un día festivo. Por lo que hicieron que cada día fuera de 5 horas. Demasiado! La escuela podría mejorar sus comunicaciones previas al curso y sus materiales. Pero en general, son una buena opción.

Experiencia fantástica: Super Schule mit sehr guten Lehrer*innen. Der Unterricht war gut aufgebaut und angenehm in Kommunikation und Grammatik aufgeteilt. Die Lehrer*innen gingen gut auf unsere Bedürfnisse ein, haben den Unterricht vielfältig gestaltet und durch das freundschaftliche Verhältnis hat es richtig Spass gemacht. Besonders geschätzt habe ich die Flexibilität der Schule. Ursprünglich habe ich 4 Wochen in Cartagena gebucht, konnte dann aber kurzfristig und ohne Aufpreis die 4. Woche in Medellin absolvieren, was mir die Möglichkeit gab, eine weitere kolumbianische Stadt vertiefter kennenzulernen.

Experiencia fantástica: I absolutely adore this school!! I was originally going to write this review in Spanish but I was told to write it in my native language English so here goes.. I started in October and finished in December. I went from A2 to B3 ( there is no such level B3 it’s a joke because I am super close to reaching master fluency ) This school is without a doubt a wonderful school that helped me organize my thoughts on Spanish even with difficult topics such as the subjunctive and indirect and direct object pronouns and with practice I will soon reach C3 level . I can’t thank this school enough. I also think it’s really cool to meet other students NOT just from the U.S but from around the world. Students from Switzerland, France, Germany and Canada specifically. It’s nice to hear them speak their native language and when we all speak Spanish together whenever some are beginners or experts, it makes me feel like we are a team!! I love it. Reminds me of high school but even better! I also enjoy the activities and the trips the school offers, they are great! A wonderful way to intrigue students into culture and overall have fun! From traveling on the chiva bus to exploring a cave. A very pleasant experience to say the least! If there was something I didn’t like about this school, it’s most definitely the negative reviews of people talking about how bad the school is just because the teachers ONLY speak Spanish. Like you are here to learn Spanish, and teachers do help you. On top of that, the more they talk to you in Spanish, the more you will get used to the language thus improving your listening skills in Spanish. I manage to understand them more and more. I will say some do speak English okay though. Overall I highly recommend this school. There’s a reason why the school has nearly a perfect 5 star ranking! ¡¡Gracias a todos mis compañeros y profesores y Gracias a Luz por el café!! ☕️☕️☕️

Experiencia fantástica: Je viens de passer 3 mois à l'école de Nueva Lengua de Medellín. C'est une école vraiment super, avec des profs qui adaptent leur pédagogie à chaque situation, chaque élève. Il y a des groupes de niveau qui permettent de progresser régulièrement et d'être avec d'autres élèves, en petits groupes. Je recommande vivement cette école pour la qualité des enseignements et la joie de vivre des gens qui y travaillent!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: We had the best time at Nueva Lengua in Medellín! We wanted to stay for two weeks but enjoyed it so much that we extended to three weeks. We learnt a lot, there is a lot of attention for personal progress. The teachers are very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Would definetely recommend taking a course here! If we could we definitely would have stayed longer.

Experiencia fantástica: The Nueva Lengua school in Medellin was AMAZING! I was able to go for 3 weeks and advanced through the levels. The classes were between 3-5 people so it was very easy to ask questions during both the grammar and communication classes. The teachers were very welcoming and patient as everyone is at different levels of spanish. I enjoyed this program a lot and I defiantly would like to go again for a longer period of time.

Experiencia fantástica: Heb zes weken een Spaans cursus gevolgd bij Nueva Lengua. De lessen waren erg gevarieerd en van hoog niveau. Het hielp erg dat de klassen klein zijn waardoor je veel persoonlijke feedback krijgt wat erg belangrijk is om een taal te leren. De leraren zijn allemaal uitstekend en van hoog niveau. Naast de lessen organiseert de school activiteiten in de stad waardoor je naast het Spaans leren ook de stad ontdekt. En Medellín is een geweldige stad om te ontdekken. Ik raad deze school zeker aan als je in een korte tijd veel Spaans wilt leren. Je moet alleen goed opletten in de klas, want ze gaan snel door de stof heen waardoor je in een korte tijd veel binnenkrijgt. Enigste minpunt is dat de school in Poblado is. Poblado is de toeristische buurt van Medellín, waardoor de studenten die in school verblijven niet zien hoe Medellín echt is want de andere buurten zijn Medellín’s en Poblado niet.

Experiencia positiva: Excellent teaching but organisation is a bit off. I spent a week here and was taught by Eduardo who was honestly one of the best Spanish teachers I have had. Overall I was happy. They also have great social and cultural activities each day. The downside is that they have an hour at the end of the day reserved for chatting which simply doesn’t work and was quite disappointing. Firstly they change the teachers up, so you have to do a new round of introducing yourself again and again each day. Secondly they mix the group levels up, so if you are at a higher level, you’re stuck with people with a level far below you, meaning it’s a bit of a waste of time. Lastly they don’t seem disciplined with the breaks, as the bell sounds for everyone to go back to class, and everyone just lounges around outside for an additional 10 minutes. It would also have been nice if the teachers were a bit stricter to stop people messing around in class and playing on their phones (obviously you would expect adults students not to do this but unfortunately it’s not all that surprising) Great teaching, management just needs to tighten up the organisation/discipline a bit.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a really good time at Nueva Lengua. I basically arrived with zero Spanish and after 4 weeks I was able to communicate with people and understand responses which was my main goal. The teachers are super supportive and create a fun, comfortable atmosphere. I really liked the after-school activities with them and joking around. They really do a lot to make this a wholesome experience for the students besides just teaching Spanish.

Experiencia fantástica: I have taken Spanish courses at language schools in several Spanish-speaking countries, and Nueva Lengua is one of the best. I came to the school with specific language needs, and so I enrolled in private courses at the Medellín school. Before arriving, I had a video conference interview with the school director, and explained what I was looking for. When I arrived, a program had been developed for my personal needs. While I did not have the same teacher each day, the teachers spoke to each other and there was a seamless transition between instructors. I definitely finished the program as a much stronger Spanish-speaker than when I started. I also did a homestay which was amazing. My family was kind and very attentive. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The homestay allowed me to apply what I had learned/practiced in class which deepened my learning. One unique characteristic about Nueva Lengua is that you can take courses at the four different campuses and when you transfer from one city to another, the schools communicate with each other so you don’t miss anything and your learning is a continuous process. What a great way to learn about different parts of Colombia and grow your Spanish skills. I highly recommend Nueva Lengua!

Experiencia fantástica: I took three weeks of Spanish classes and my the end I felt that I could make all the random words I know into actual sentences! I ended up staying one week extra, the excursions/activities are a nice addition to explore the city.

Experiencia fantástica: Ich hatte eine wunderbare Zeit hier an der Nueva Lengua in Medellín. Insgesamt besuchte ich die Schulen 8 Wochen, wovon ich 4 in Medellín verbracht habe. Ich habe viel gelernt und der Unterricht mit Samantha, Adriana, Yennis und Eduardo war immer sehr abwechslungsreich. Die Gruppengrößen haben von Woche zu Woche variiert aber waren immer passend. Die Nachmittagsaktivitäten waren ebenfalls sehr toll. Sowohl der Tanz- und Kochkurs, als auch die, die außerschulisch waren. :) Vielen lieben Dank für alles! Ich denke gerne an meine Zeit dort zurück!

Experiencia fantástica: A escola é incrível, tem uma ótima estrutura e um excelente corpo docente. Como é característico dos colombianos, os professores são muito amáveis e tem uma didática de ensino muito boa. Todos os dias tínhamos atividades extraclasse que ajudam, não só a desenvolver o idioma como também a conhecer melhor a cultura do país. A imersão em um país do idioma que se estuda foi uma experiência única e posso afirmar que melhorou muito meu espanhol.

Experiencia fantástica: Die Schule Nueva Lengua ist meiner Meinung nach die beste Option zum Spanisch lernen in Medellin. Alle Lehrer und Lehrerinnen sind Locals aus Medellin mit einer Ausbildung in Literatur oder ähnlichen. Der Unterricht bietet eine gute Balance aus Grammatik und Konversation, wodurch ich mich nach wenigen wochen gut verständigen konnte. Die Schule ist in einer sicheren Gegend mit vielen möglichen Aktivitäten und der Rest der Stadt ist gut erreichbar. Insgesamt war es eine unvergessliche Erfahrung und meine Spanisch kenntnisse wurden in nur 4 Wochen nachhaltig verbessert. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Experiencia fantástica: I had a week of Spanish lessons in Nueva Lengua in Medellín, and I really liked it. We were only two people in my class, so there was a lot of time for each of us and a lot of possibility to have our questions answered. I did not participate in many of the cultural activities they offered, but I think they add value and a sense of community to the school which is nice if you’re staying longer. I would for sure have stayed longer if I had had more time to spend in Medellín.

De omgeving biedt een scala aan restaurants, bars en parken, waardoor het een levendige en handige plek is om te studeren. Bovendien organiseert de school doordeweeks diverse activiteiten voor studenten om de stad en de cultuur beter te leren kennen. Gedurende mijn vier weken hier heb ik een onvergetelijke tijd gehad. Een suggestie voor verbetering zou zijn om de campus te moderniseren, wat het verblijf van de studenten nog aangenamer zou maken. Wat betreft de lessen, kan ik zeggen dat ze van uitstekende kwaliteit waren. De deskundigheid en toewijding van de docenten maakten mijn leerervaring zeer waardevol. Daarom kan ik deze school ten zeerste aanbevelen aan iedereen die overweegt hier een cursus te volgen. Ik wil alle docenten hartelijk bedanken voor hun bijdrage aan deze fantastische tijd.

Experiencia fantástica: Ganz lieben Dank an das excelente Team von Nueva Lengua, alle Professoren und die Spezialistinnen in der Küche. Alle Leute sind dort sehr freundlich, sympathisch und Kompetent. Ich hatte eine sehr schöne Zeit dort auch mit allen Studenten aus aller Welt. Es ist auch sehr schön das die Schule, am Nachmittag so viele Aktivitäten anbietet.

Experiencia fantástica: I had the best four weeks studying Spanish at Nueva Lengua in Medellín. On average there were four of us in the group which was perfect (I started at B1 and ended at B2 level). The classes are structured so you have one hour of grammar 9-10, another two hours of grammar 10-12, and then an hour of conversation with a different teacher 12-1. The classes were fun and engaging with a big emphasis on conversation which I loved. There's free coffee and everyone sits out on the balcony in the breaks between classes, so there's a really sociable vibe. We often all went for lunch together - the school is near loads of great restaurants in Poblado - and the school organises cultural activities to see different areas of the city every afternoon. The teachers do an amazing job of bringing Spanish and Medellín to life, every day was so much fun. A huge thank you to Julio, Eduardo, Marcella, Jairo, Adriana, Samantha & Mariana!

Experiencia fantástica: Ich habe zwei Wochen in der Schule "Nueva Lengua" verbracht und möchte kurz darüber berichten. Der Unterricht startet jeweils von 9:00 - 13:00 (3h Grammatik / 1h Speaking). Die Unterrichtslektionen sind gut struktiert und sind aufbauend geplant. Die Gruppengrössen sind von 3-7 Personen. Ich habe in den zwei Wochen sehr viel gelernt und habe auch noch dem Unterricht no viele zusätzliche Lernunterlagen erhalten. Kurz gesagt, ich würde kann diese Schule empfehlen und würde wiederkommen, denn auch die ausserschulischen Aktivitäten waren immer sehr interessant und lehrreich.

Experiencia fantástica: Die Schule ist wirklich toll. Die Lehrer sind alle sehr sehr freundlich, einfallsreich und haben viel Erfahrung mit Schülern aus verschiedenen Ländern. Es wird eine gute Mischung aus Grammatik, Vokabeln und Sprachtraining gefunden. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf dem Sprechen, was ich sehr gut fand. Ich hatte sowohl Gruppen-als auch Einzelstunden und kann beides sehr empfehlen. Jeder Unterrichtstag endet mit einer reinen Kommunikationsstunde, die immer sehr viel Spaß macht. Allgemein herrscht in der Schule eine tolle Stimmung. Durch die Freizeitaktionen jeden Tag findet man sehr gut Anschluss. Kleiner Punkt zur Accommodation mit der Schule: So gut der Unterricht ist, habe ich Kritikpunkte zur Unterkunft: Die Shared dorms könnten eine Renovierung vertragen. Vor allem aber war meine Ankunft holprig. Mein airport pick-up, der vereinbart und bezahlt war, wurde vergessen. Als ich mit dem Taxi abends ankam, war nur zufällig ein anderer Schüler da, der mich reinließ. Sonst hätte ich vor verschlossenen Türen gestanden. Telefonisch war niemand zu erreichen. Ähnliches ist anderen passiert. Hierauf sollte die Accommodation viel mehr achten. Mein Eindruck war, dass die meisten Schüler private Unterkünfte nutzen, da die Nachbarschaft sehr sicher und belebt ist und viele Alternativen bietet. Da hier aber die Schule und der Unterricht bewertet werden: 5 Sterne

Experiencia fantástica: Ich war eine für einen 2-wöchigen Spanischkurs hier. Die Kurse finden in der Regel in kleinen Gruppen statt wodurch man sehr viel ins Sprechen kommt. Auch Medellin ist als Stadt super interessant und hat einen ganz besonderen Vibe!

Experiencia fantástica: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google should expand the rating scale to six stars to accommodate Nueva Lengua. I just finished four weeks of learning, camaraderie, and activities and honestly can't think of a single negative thing to write. The school is managed professionally and courteously from the online registration to payment to organization of classes. (I asked for a refund for part of my homestay and that was given without hesitation. Muchas gracias Julio.) I didn't stay on campus, so can't comment on that, but there are plenty of reasonable accommodations within walking distance and Ubers and taxis are not too expensive if you want to stay outside of El Poblado. The classrooms are spacious and airy with large tables, comfortable chairs, whiteboards, and LED screens. The group classes run from 9:00-1:00 with breaks between sessions. During the breaks students gather to chat, and because there are students from so many countries eager to practice Spanish, the breaks themselves turn into fantastic learning opportunities. In addition the school organizes a variety of engaging optional activities such as tours, dancing, cooking, recreation, and outings to sports events. The activities are priced reasonably and some are free. Aside from the administration, facilities, and extracurricular activities, the real stars of Nueva Lengua are the teachers. Each one is clearly qualified to teach Spanish to non-native speakers. They follow a curriculum but each presents it in their own way through full immersion in text, activities, videos, and music. It was obvious that they love teaching and answer every question not just on Spanish topics but on Colombia and Colombian culture. They are constantly engaged with students and each other before, during and after classes, and also during breaks. The teachers really go out of their way to help students find their way around Medellín and close relationships form quickly and easily. Students and teachers often end up sharing meals and going out together for evening activities. I really can't say enough about the kindness, generosity, care, and professionalism shown by the teachers. Mil gracias Adriana, Eduardo, Marcela, Brayan, Mariana, and Samantha. Experiencia fantástica: Die Schule Nueva lengua verfügt über ein breites Angebot. Nebst den eher von der Grammatik dominierten Klassen, finden täglich Konversationsklassen statt, es werden Viedos gezeigt, Musik gehört und literarische Texte geleses. Jeden Mittwochnachmittag finden Tanzklassen und Kochklassen statt welche unterhaltend inspirierend und lehrreich sind. Alle Dozente/innen verfügen über Hochschulabschluss und die Unterrichtsart ist sehr profesionel und ganz ehrlich alle sind extrem autentisch sympatisch hilfreich und liebenswert. Como se dice en Colombia, los profes son la chimba. La escuela Nueva Lengua tiene un programa de clases muy amplio. Aparte de las clases de español en las cuales se aprende gramática de distintas formas , adecir que se hacen ejercicios de escritura de hablar y de escucha hay todos los días una clase de conversación con temas actuales. Aparte de esas clases hay clases de cocina y de baile que son muy divertidos y con mucho aprendizaje. En cuanto a los profes, los profes son muy profesionales, auténticos simpáticos y amables , como se dice en Colombia, los profes son la chimba .

Experiencia fantástica: Mijn tweede talenschool, tweede locatie van nevua lengua, en hoewel het heel anders is dan in Cartagena was het wel weer heel leuk. Hoog niveau van de lessen en je kan met genoeg mensen Engels praten als dat nodig is. De studenten zijn allemaal aardig en er is veel te doen met hen of met de leraren zelf. Zeker een aanrader en hoop jullie hiermee geholpen te hebben.

Experiencia fantástica: I enjoyed coming to this school. I came to Medellin not understanding much Spanish but after 4 weeks I learned so much. The teachers are phenomenal but it’s important to all the questions you need and they will answer them. I enjoyed the activities and felt like the school accepted me as their child experiencing a new country and culture. I highly recommend everyone come to Nueva Lengua, see where your spanish is and then the teachers will help you move forward!

The teachers are great - they are all friendly, helpful and excellent at adjusting their Spanish to suit the level of the students. The activities were more varied than I expected - over the month there were only a few that were repeated. They are a good mix of fun and informative. Medellin itself is a great city, after a month there are still many things I want to do but haven't had time for. Cinco estrellas!

Les activités organisées par l’école et incluses dans le prix sont un MUST (visite de la Comuna 13, du jardin botanique, du Museo Casa de la Memoria, du centre historique et de Guatape ainsi que les cours de cuisine et de danse). Les personnes y étudiant proviennent de de partout dans le monde et rendent l’expérience encore plus enrichissante. J’y retournerai certainement!! Experiencia fantástica: 100% zu empfehlen! Die Schule bieten einen super Mix aus Unterricht und optionalen Freizeitaktivitäten. Man lernt schnell neue Leute kennen (sowohl Lehrer als auch Schüler). Ich kann wärmstens empfehlen, bei einer Gastfamilie unterzukommen. Darüber findet man einen perfekten Anschluss an das kolumbianische Leben.

Les professeurs sont à l’écoute et les cours sont divertissants. Je recommande a 100%. Le prof Bryan est super gentil et drôle et est un très bon danseur de salsa.

All of the professors are really friendly and helpful and want you to learn as much as possible. Profe Brayan was my personal favourite, he really knows how to connect with the students! Experiencia fantástica: I just finished three months in Medellín and I loved it. I started with little to no Spanish; just present tense knowledge and vocab from Duolingo. So I began at A0 and finished in B2. I now feel confident enough to travel around Colombia and while my Spanish isn't perfect I can communicate, understand responses and engage in long conversations. Everyone at the school wants you to succeed and does everything to help you, they are more than willing to answer any questions whether they are grammar related or not. The classes don't feel like school and have a laid back approach to it, of course studying helps, but because you are out in the city using what you learn you are always studying, so I didn't find myself looking over notes everyday. After classes and during breaks professors love to talk with you about anything and everything, which is a great way to put into practice what you have learned. They provide worksheets on sections you are going over which is always helpful to reference later. Classes sometimes move at a faster pace, but it doesn't feel so quick that I felt lost and on days when I did studying or talking with the professors about my issues really helped. The classes are 4 hours a day Monday to Fridays from 9am to 1pm; 3 hours is grammar and then an hour of communication. There's also cooking classes where you can learn how to make traditional Colombian food, cultural activities where you go to well known spots in Colombia as well as fun nights out. All are great bonding experiences with your peers and the teachers. I also stayed at the school in a dorm of four which was really helpful because I was able to wake up and walk downstairs to class plus I didn't have to think about breakfast which is always wonderful. Overall this is a great place to learn Spanish whether you want to be fluent or just want to spend a week or two picking up some Spanish as you go along your travels.

Experiencia fantástica: Ich habe einen vierwöchigen Sprachkurs in der Sprachschule Nueva Lengua in Medellín gemacht. Die Gruppengröße variiert oft, da manche Studenten nur ein bis zwei Wochen da sind. Aber es sind nie mehr als 8 Studenten in einem Kurs, das das Lernen sehr angenehm macht. Generell wird viel Wert auf die Konversation gelegt, da man so am Besten Spanisch lernen kann. Deshalb wird selbst in den vier Stunden Grammatik auch viel gesprochen und das Erlernte angewendet und geübt. Ich habe in der Zeit mit meinen Lehrern Al, Samantha, Mariana und Adriana viel gelernt und viel an Selbstvertrauen gewonnen. Danke euch dafür ;-) Die Aktivitäten, die von der Schule organisiert wurden, waren sehr interessant. Trotz dessen, dass ich schon viel von Medellín kannte, habe ich auch neue Orte kennengelernt.

Experiencia fantástica: I am forever grateful to this school and my 3 weeks spent here studying Spanish. My profesor was Samantha Castaño. She was one of the kindest, most patient and detailed teachers. Her passion and energy is infectious and she makes learning very enjoyable. Her speaking is very clear and easier to understand. She prepares you well to be able to then go out into the world and communicate well with other Spanish speakers. Samantha went the extra mile to tailor each student’s Spanish needs according to their own life experiences and career. I also had Eduardo and Mariana who did segmented classes of communication with us. They were equally amazing and improved my confidence with the language. We delved into really interesting topics each day with good error correction and new vocabulary. Personally my Spanish reading, speaking and listening skills improved massively in my time here. I made great progress and I am glad to have chosen Nueva Lengua as my school of choice. I would go back there in a heartbeat and I already miss learning there. It was so cool to be able to meet and make friends with other students from all over the world. The school is situated in a very good part of Medellin too so it makes it easy to adjust into a completely new environment.

Experiencia fantástica: Sehr zu empfehlen!!! Die Schule bietet eine sehr gute Möglichkeit Spanisch zu lernen, sei es nur nebenbei in den Ferien oder ganztägig mit Privatstunden. Die Gruppenstunden sind gut strukturiert und die Lehrer haben mir fast alle sehr zugesagt. Es herrscht meistens eine lockere Atmosphäre und trotzdem ist das Lerntempo recht hoch. Gut gelegen ist die Schule auch, nah am Herzen vom schönsten Viertel Medellins. Die Aktivitäten der Schule in den Nachmittagen sind für manche sicherlich interessant, ich fand die an denen ich teilgenommen habe jedoch nicht optimal. Was mir allerdings meine Zeit extrem verschönert hat waren meine Privatstunden mit Brayan und Aldair. Privatstunden hören sich langweilig und anstrengend an, allerdings ist das die erste Schule in der ich Lehrer hatte die den Unterricht eher wie eine informative Konversation mit Freunden gestaltet haben. Es hängt natürlich immer vom Lehrer ab, aber ich kann zumindest über meine Lehrer sagen dass sie den Unterricht so perfekt wie nur möglich gestaltet haben und ich deshalb eine sehr gute Zeit an der Schule hatte.

Experiencia fantástica: I spent two weeks at Nueva Lengua and loved every minute. The professors are all kind, knowledgable, and clearly have a passion for sharing their language with anyone who wants to learn. The class sizes are pretty small, which allows for a great learning experience. Outside of grammar and conversation sessions, they offer daily extra activities, such as dance lessons, cooking demonstrations, and walks around the city. My only regret is that I didn’t have more time here! I would recommend this place for any one looking to learn Spanish - whether you are starting from scratch or trying to improve your current knowledge.

Experiencia positiva: Spent 3 months here and absolutely loved it. I was able to be taught by all the teachers and although they have quite different styles I thought they were all very knowledgeble and effective in their own ways. They're also great people so we had a lot of fun together. I like the fact that there is a focus on lots of verbal communication, with a communications class and also just talking to each other in spanish during the breaks as that is what really helps you improve. If I had any questions or wanted to learn about a different topic then the teachers were very adaptable. I'll only give 4 stars though because I do have a couple things to improve. Firstly, I enjoyed the free dance classes and the teacher Diego was very good, and some of the other activities organised by the school were also great for example tejo and a chiva bus party. But you have to pick and choose a bit because some of the activites are a bit of an overpriced tourist trap and can even be done yourself/elsewere for a better experience. Secondly, although the teachers were good there was no structure to the course and it seemed like everyone just kinda did their own thing. This is frustrating sometimes when new people join your class and you are not at the same level so have to repeat or skip content. Even if there were no new people in my class, we sometimes just kept repeating stuff and I didn't know what content I had covered and what was left to learn. The teachers seemed to struggle with this sometimes too.

Experiencia fantástica: The overall experience of the school was above my expectations. I learned a lot in just one week and two days of classes. The teachers were very nice and Al made sure there was a safe and enjoyable environment to learn. However I would consider staying at the school again, you should not expect too much from the facilities of the student residence.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve had a great experience within a two weeks spanish class at Nueva Lengua Medellín. It is a nice place to spend time at, hanging out with other students and the teachers aswell. It‘s a very friendly, almost family-like surrounding which provides you with an excellent school and professional teachers. I’ve had the pleasure to meet a few teachers at different subjects but Samantha was constantly teaching my class through the whole time. She is not only an enthusiastic and excellent teacher with effective, interactive and versatile teaching methods but also a fun, positive, respectful and very nice person. Additionally, I took 5 private hours per week which helped me a lot achieving a good and confident „feeling“ for this beautiful language. Highly recommended!

Lots of other solo travelers like me which was nice. I had a few teachers and they were all very professional and excellent. But, professor Samantha in particular really made my experience fantastic. She is an excellent teacher, well organized with great materials and explains the material very well! I learned more with her then I have in the past And it was so enjoy able because Samantha is also such a caring, sweet and fun person that her classes are super enjoyable! Experiencia fantástica: I just spent 4 weeks in Nueva Lengua in Medellin. I really enjoyed the time there. Medellin is a great place to stay. Nueva Lengua a good school to improve Spanish. Since I preferred a homestay, they organized a family in a neighborhood a bit away from Poblado (where the school is). For me it was a perfect match to experience some more of Colombia outside the Poblado-Bubble. The school has good teachers. They are always around and care about your stay in Medellin and the school. I had classes with Ariana, Mariana and Samantha. They all great and very helpful. They really want you to improve your Spanish poco a poco :-). Besides class the school organizes activities. This helpful to get to know the other students and more of Medellin, Colombia, Culture, etc.

Experiencia fantástica: I'm having a lot of good experience in Nueva Lengua. The school offers, in addition to classes, extracurricular activities, which are fantastic. I took classes with teacher Adriana and teacher Samantha, both excellent. I want to especially thank Professor Adriana who has always been very kind, careful with her students and very professional, both inside and outside the classroom (even making herself available to help me outside of class). Adriana is a great teacher and an excellent human being, I am very happy to have taken classes with her.

Experiencia fantástica: Ich habe zwei Wochen lang einen Spanischkurs bei Nueva Lengua in Medellin gemacht, nachdem ich bereits zuvor zwei Wochen Unterricht bei der gleichen Sprachschule in Cartagena genommen habe und sehr begeistert war. Jeden Tag hat man 4 Stunden Unterricht in der Gruppe und lernt dabei je nach Sprachniveau neue Inhalte. Dabei wird ebenfalls viel Wert auf Konversation und Sprachpraxis gelegt. Nueva Lengua hat ein tolles Team und auch die Aktivitäten am Nachmittag/Abend (bspw. Kochkurs, Chiva Rumbera, Kulinariktour, Tejo spielen) sorgen für super Stimmung und bieten eine gute Möglichkeit, Kontakte zu knüpfen. Werde gerne wiederkommen.

Experiencia fantástica: Nueva Lengua liegt perfekt in einem sehr sicheren Viertel mit europäischen Verhältnissen. Das Gebäude selbst ist gigantisch und erinnert an eine Villa. Die Zimmer sind geräumig sowohl einbett als auch mehrbett. Es fehlt ein Aufenthaltsraum. Die Bäder sind sauber und neuwertig. Der Unterricht ist gut gegliedert. Ich hatte Mariana Montoya als Lehrerin, sie war immer pünktlich und hat uns sehr geduldig alles beigebracht, ich war 2 Wochen dort und habe viel bei ihr gelernt in meinem A1/A2 Kurs! Auch die Lehrer Brayan und Al die ich im Sprechunterricht hatte waren hervorragend. Die Schule hat viele Angebote für die Freizeit angeboten die ich empfehlen kann und man schließt schnell neue Freundschaften.

The course is thorough, and the daily communication classes also ensure you learn to express yourself. I got on well with every teacher, and they all brought their own engaging styles to their teaching. I also so enjoyed meeting the other students, all friendly and intelligent, and left the school with new friends as well much improved Spanish!

They use immersive Spanish exercises and cultural activities to create a welcoming and supportive classroom community. Brayan, in particular, has been a mentor to me. His patience, flexibility, and encouragement have nurtured my growth in Spanish. He has created a learning environment where I feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking risks. Aldair, thank you for making our conversation sessions fun and engaging. I especially appreciated the last hour of the day, when we had the opportunity to practice our Spanish with our peers and you facilitated the discussion with great questions, follow-up questions, and examples. This was the part of the day when I often had my biggest breakthroughs in understanding and using Spanish verb conjugations. Ximena, where do I start? Ha, my many questions. However, she was able to address the areas no matter how challenging or scattered they were due to the difference in the structure of English and Spanish. (Wow, I can't imagine learning English as a second language now!) She created an environment where I felt confident in my ability to have conversations with others outside of the school, such as in restaurants, on transportation, at my accommodation, and even when making new friends. Samantha and Mariena, you have both contributed so much to my growth. I have felt at ease with your support along the way and I look forward to continuing to add to my knowledge base with your help. The accommodation at the school is nice and safe, and it's a great place to meet other students from all over the world. I haven't had this much fun in a long time! Thanks to everyone at Nueva Lengua for making this my favorite experience in all of Latin America. In addition to learning Spanish, I also gained a deep understanding of Colombian culture thanks to the school's focus on cultural activities and cultural knowledge. The staff organized a variety of activities, such as dancing, cooking, and sightseeing, which helped me to immerse myself in the culture and meet new people.

We really liked the structure of the days with the grammar/vocab being introduced in first hour, the rest of the morning building on that and practicing with exercises etc then a different teacher for the final hour for communication class, which was all around practicing chatting in Spanish in a very safe feeling environment. Both our teachers, Sam and Marianne, were excellent - kept us going at a strong pace at the right level, kept us engaged and really drove the level of our Spanish up. Thanks!

Experiencia fantástica: This is an excellent school for learning Spanish. Students from many countries, including Australia, USA, England, and French Guyana come here. This is a real school, unlike several other Spanish language schools in Medellin, some of which consist of nothing more than a storefront. This school has at least a dozen classrooms and some truly excellent teachers. I attended a similar language school a few years ago which was regarded as the best in Berlin, but I believe this one is superior even though it is a little smaller. With only five or six students in each class, the learning progresses rapidly. I came for one week just to try it out, and will definitely return. I was very pleased and somewhat amazed with my own progress, just from studying four hours a day for one week. The classes require serious concentration, but they are well worth it. My teacher, Ariana, was unbelievably energetic and patient. She spoke nothing but Spanish to us from the first. After just a few days of instruction, I found myself able to read, listen and understand a huge amount more, and able to converse with taxii drivers and shopkeepers, which I had not been able to do before.

Experiencia fantástica: Eu e minha esposa ficamos uma semana em Medellin e fizemos um curso de imersão em espanhol na escola Nueva Lengua. Foi demais, todos professores foram muito atenciosos, particularmente a Adriana e Samantha, que estavam conosco durante as aulas. A escola também tem atividades culturais todas as tardes, e bastante oportunidades de interagir com outros estudantes de vários países. Super recomendo a escola para quem queira aprimorar o seu espanhol.

Experiencia fantástica: I spent 3 weeks at the school in Medellin to learn Spanish before travelling around South America - I would definitely recommend the school as a place to continue your Spanish studies. The school is in Poblado which is a great neighbour, after class you can easily grab lunch or a drink. It’s the location where most tourists or expats are based. I had already studied Spanish for a year so was familiar with the basics , conjugation and some of the tenses but hadn’t had the time to practice and the immersive experience with the school really improved my ability to speak (before I couldn’t string a sentence together). The school has great teachers. Who are all very enthusiastic about supporting the students to learn as much Spanish as possible - so there is no English to the induction or the classes. This was a little challenging when I first arrived. However, my teacher Samantha was extremely well structured in her grammar classes and the Columbian accent is much easier to follow than others (eg Spain or Argentina). Brayan was also excellent when taking our conversation class - he is very patient and good at providing prompts. Initially the class was slow to think of responses, but this definitely got easier as the weeks went by. The morning classes are typically: 3 hours grammar - w 1 break Break 1 hour Conversation Class The school was a great way to meet other travellers , both in class and the breaks between. And I enjoyed the free dance class and cooking class held every Wednesday- I spent my evenings and weekends with students I met at the school. The school is best suited to individuals who want to learn how to speak spanish fluently - and have a long term purpose , rather than purely “survival Spanish” as offered by other schools. If you are a beginner or still in A1/A2 I would recommend spending at least 2 weeks to learn the present tense. I was starting from A1, covered all of A2 and started B1. I also stayed at the school , the accommodation is good, it’s secure, clean and no commute! However, it is a little basic e.g there is no lounge (it’s a school) so if you are staying for longer than a week and you wanted a private room it might be better to book a hostel - it is a similar price in other poblado accommodation. Experiencia negativa: Where do I begin. I booked the 20hr spanish lessons with 5 hours dance lessons and 1 hour cooking class. I sent an email the Friday before asking to cancle my dorm and they offered me 4 hours of private classes instead of a refund to which I agreed. I asked if someone would be there to greet me Monday morning to which they told me there was no class on Monday due to a public holiday and classes would start Tuesday at 8am instead of 9am. There was a lack of communication and they assumed I would somehow know this, luckily I contacted them and didn't show up at the school Monday morning like one of the other students. My class teacher spoke zero English and would teach us in Spanish only. We had an advanced student in my class even though the rest of us are beginners. This made it very difficult to learn and the student would have spanish conversations with the teacher with us all not understanding a word. We learnt the alphabet on day 2 instead of day 1 and the teacher assumed we knew masculine and feminine and we never learnt the rule. It was very difficult to stay engaged with the teacher only speaking Spanish. I personally would not recommend this school to beginners. I also recommend staying at a hostel and not the dorm at the school. I only received 4 hours of dance classes and no cooking class even though I paid for this. I do recommend the dance class however as Diego was a great teacher. I also didn't get the certificate they said they would send me for completing the course. I would consider another school for beginners in all honesty.

Experiencia negativa: Ich habe in Summe zwei Wochen Sprachkurs gebucht, eine in Bogotá (5 Stars!) und eine in Medellín. Mir wurde im Vorfeld versichert, dass ich an mein gelerntes Spanisch aus der ersten Woche in Medellin anknüpfen werde und der Kurs aufbauend verläuft. Leider wurde ich in eine Klasse gesetzt, in der Themen deutlich hinter meinen in Bogotá gelernten Themen lagen. Am zweiten Tag habe ich morgens versucht meine Enttäuschung darüber auszusprechen und gefragt, ob es keinen anderen Kurs gebe, da auch versprochen wurde, dass ein Schulwechsel ohne Probleme möglich sei. Als Entgegnung kam dann lediglich „there is a C1 class. It is not your level.“ Danach wurden mir 30 Minuten Zeit zur Entscheidung auf einen Kurswechsel gegeben. Ich hätte mir hier gewünscht, etwas Informationen zu bekommen, welcher Kurswechsel tatsächlich möglich ist (Es gab auch Parallele A2 Kurse), sowie, welches Material mir dazu fehlt. Stattdessen war die Reaktion leider sehr unfreundlich und ich hatte das Gefühl meine liebe Lehrerin Samantha wollte mich danach eher vorführen, als mir zu helfen spanisch zu lernen. Ohne weitere Informationen bin ich im Kurs geblieben (im Nachhinein ein Fehler), da mir auch versprochen wurde neue Themen zu bearbeiten. Leider hat Samantha auch viele Fehler nicht korrigiert. Ebenso fehlte die Möglichkeit, Fragen auch auf englisch zu stellen, da diese häufig nicht richtig verstanden wurden, noch daraufhin irgendetwas wirklich erklärt wurde. Nach meinem empfinden wurden Folien und Grammatik-Regeln einfach an die Tafel geschrieben. Leider ohne weitere Erklärung dazu. Dies hat in Bogotá alles stattgefunden und war sehr hilfreich. Die letzte Stunde „Talking“ bei einem anderen Lehrer war sehr unterhaltsam. Die letzten beiden Tage des Kurses habe ich verpasst, nachdem wir vorher erst 20 Minuten eine Pac-Man Variation gespielt haben, danach 12 Minuten ein YouTube-Lied von Marc Anthony gehört haben um uns abschließen die 10 fehlenden Wörter im Liedtext nochmal für 15 Minuten gegenseitig vorzulesen, gehe ich davon aus, auch nicht allzu viel verpasst zu haben. Am Ende des Tages für mich 180€ zum Fenster raus geworfen, die ich lieber anderweitig gespendet hätte. Über die anderen Lehrer kann ich nichts sagen. Jedoch so viel, dass ich die Schule in Bogotá jederzeit wieder besuchen würde. Medellín kann ich nach meiner Erfahrung für das Geld nicht empfehlen.

Experiencia fantástica: Ein wunderbarer Ort um Spanisch zu lernen. Der Unterricht ist abwechslungsreich und von guter Qualität. Und Medellin ist super! Man kann so viel machen und sich frei bewegen, da die Stadt sehr sicher ist.

Experiencia positiva: I spent a week at the Medellin campus. I chose a homestay. First, communication with Juan Carlos was very easy and timely. He got back to me quickly and was able to change my location & accomodation from Cartagena with very little notice. I appreciated that! I did not feel that the interview and placement process was sufficient. A 5 minute phone conversation of simple questions didn't really give me a chance to show what I knew and could do, and I was not immediately placed in the appropriate group. However, the staff made it very easy to switch to a different group for the rest of the week. I appreciated the knowledge, professionalism and welcome from all of the teachers. Adriana, Daniel and Mariana expanded my grammatical knowledge, but also taught us a lot about life and history in Colombia. I felt able and encouraged to have conversations outside of the class time, too. There were a couple dozen students during my week in August, and I agree with other reviews that the atmosphere was generally social, and everyone was willing to practice their Spanish skills outside of class, even if you share a home language. I would not recommend the homestay, even though they are a lovely and welcoming family! I chose this option in the hopes of maximizing my exposure to the language, and to get to know the city a little better. However, all of the host families are a 45 minute journey on public transit from the school, which makes coming and going a commitment. You can easily find your own accomodation closer, take advantage of the very social residents of Medellin to practice speaking and to make connections to the locals, and likely save yourself some pesos, too. Overall, I would recommend the school, and you get out of it what you put in. El Poblado is a great neighborhood, and I would recommend finding your own accomodation. Experiencia fantástica: I am very happy that I chose Nueva Lengua to study Spanish while in Medellin. I came to school with a very basic knowledge of Spanish. The Neuva Lengua teachers made me feel at ease. I studied for a month and I am confident in my ability to speak and understand Spanish at least at a basic advanced level. The school offers many cultural activities that are fun and well organized. They give you a chance to really see the city and learn the culture. I loved the cooking classes! I look forward to coming back for more lessons! I highly recommend Nueva Lengua. Amd now for my primary Profesor Ximina! Estoy muy contenta de haber elegido Nueva Lengua para estudiar español mientras estaba en Medellín. Llegué a la escuela con un conocimiento muy básico de español. Los profesores de Neuva Lengua me hicieron sentir a gusto. Estudié durante un mes y confío en mi capacidad para hablar y entender español al menos en un nivel básico avanzado. La escuela ofrece muchas actividades culturales que son divertidas y bien organizadas. te dan la oportunidad de ver realmente la ciudad y aprender la cultura. ¡Me encantaron las clases de cocina! ¡Espero volver para recibir más lecciones! Experiencia fantástica: Ich habe 2 Wochen Sprach- und Musikunterricht in der Schule Nueva Lengua genommen und kann es definitiv empfehlen! Neben einer guter fachlichen Qualität des Unterrichts (alle relevanten Teilbereiche des Europäischen Referenzrahmens werden abgedeckt) kommt auch der Spaß nicht zu kurz: Es gibt ebenso kulturelle Angebote wie Koch- und Tanzkurse! Die Schüler*innen haben so eine gute Möglichkeit, in Sprache und Kultur einzutauchen.

Experiencia positiva: I booked for 4 weeks and the first week was very good! I learned a lot, the teacher was helping very thorough. At A2 all the lessons where already in spanish. The content was well structured and the teacher had a very understanding way to express. In the second week we were nine people in the class, what’s in my opinion way too much for a constructive atmosphere that provides fun by learning a new language. Regarding to this studying became a bit annoying to me. I already had one week in Bogota. There the classes were smaller, there was enough space at the table and through that I liked the atmosphere more. When this point is better organized, the school is the price definitely worth.

Experiencia fantástica: I feel so very lucky to have had Allen as my instructor for the past two weeks. I felt very supported by a highly knowledgable and delightful person. The class was engaging, moved at a great pace, and I felt we covered so much in the time that we had together. I could not recommend a better instructor. I plan to continue using them as a tutor for the rest of my language journey.

Experiencia fantástica: Spent 16 weeks in Medellín, had more fun here than I ever had in 22 years of my life and went to Nueva Lengua. Una escuela chevere con súper profesores! I learnt a lot of spanish here and this school as well as the city became mi segundo hogar! I will definitely come back un día claro que siiii! Experiencia fantástica: After exploring several Spanish-language learning programs across various South American countries, my family and I decided on a 2-week intensive learning course at Neuva Lengua’s Medellin campus. We worked with Jose who handled the bookings and found her prompt, accommodating and able to provide helpful options that ensured a good fit for our family. This allowed us to have classes that were age appropriate and took into account the differences in our language levels. In the end we had a private class for our son, with one parent and teenager in the B2 class and the other parent in A1. We all enjoyed the structure of the programme which involved 4 or 5 hour of classroom learning in the morning. Afternoons, our learning continued with cultural events where we got to use our Spanish in the real world. These ranged from making Colombian dishes like empanadas, learning to dance Salsa and Bachata, visiting Medellin’s celebrated Parque Explora to learn about the countries amazing biodiversity and more. We also visited the breathtaking Commune Trece and learnt of its history. The line-up included both free and paid cultural activities, which were well-organized and affordable. Adriana tutored our son. She went beyond our wildest expectations keeping him fully engaged and looking forward to the following day’s class. Adriana used games, role-playing and other techniques to help him build his vocabulary, listening, speaking and reading. Our son’s Spanish has improved and he is more confident. This points to Adriana’s exceptional ability to work with children even in a private three-to-four hour one-on-one class. My teachers in the A1 Class were Aldair (Aldy) and Samantha. Along with 4 other students, I worked for 3 or 4 hours with Samantha each day on grammar, listening, reading and writing comprehension activities. Samantha creates a safe learning space, where everyone feels comfortable to be involved and keep improving. Her group exercises helped us to speak more and build team spirit, while individual exercises help identify learning strengths and gaps. The curriculum enabled one to measure progress while learning in a fun and engaging, yet structured way. Each day we had a one-hour conversation class with Aldy. He made sure that everyone in the class spoke, easing us out of our comfort zones and helping us to build our vocabulary and get excited about doing the work needed to get better. The conversation class built on the topics we did with Samantha but also opened a window on Colombia that made us want to go out and explore as well as tips and hacks to do so. Before you knew it, the class was over! Time flies when the learning is challenging, effective and fun and both Samantha and Aldy know just how to do it! During the first week of classes, our children celebrated their birthday. The Nueva Lengua team surprised us with a cake, candles and everyone joined in signing Cumpleanos Feliz, Happy Birthday!! Now how cool and memorable is that!! Two weeks is a short time, but we have all learnt and improved!! We plan to continue learning remotely with Nueva Lengua but will certainly be back. If you are a family looking for a fun vacation that includes learning Spanish and cultural tourism, we recommend Nueva Lengua!!
