Experiencia fantástica: I spent a week with Blink in December 2025 & had a terrific time. I met a group of interesting fellow students from all over the world, received excellent instruction from my teachers, and felt very safe & comfortable in the Poblado neighborhood where Blink is located. I stayed in one of Blink’s private rooms and it was clean and well maintained. Highly recommend my experience. I took group classes in the morning and a private class each afternoon.

Experiencia negativa: I wish I could rate this school five stars- I met so many amazing people at this place and loved studying spanish. Unfortunately, due to the managment complete and utter incompantance regarding handling complains that female students filed against staff members acting inappropriately, I'm giving it one star so the next students will know what is going on.

We looked into your complaint and other students mostly vouched for the professor. There is nothing ´going on´ except amazing communicators who are not held back by the rules of wokeism and PC-extremes. True teachers are great communicators and we choose not to hold them back in an over-precautionary means so not to offend outsiders who are visiting this country and culture. Your urge to get a professor fired over what appears to be 100% personal feelings/observation is a furious manifestation of something I can not define for you. This professor has 5000+ hours experience in Blink and ONE complaint (yours yet hundreds of possitive feedback). The West seems to be full of those who feel entitled to be offended and complain at will without considering our cultural differences. We are sorry that things did not go as well as you (and we) would have liked. We want to make Blink as great as possible for as many people as possible. It is probably a good thing that people understand that when coming to Blink, they are not entering a sterile place where speech and culture is reduced to a 100% professional setting. Extreme rules and radical ideas only prohibit speech that feeds human communication/connections. We believe that most people choose to be offended - and jump at the opportunity - instead of actually trying to understand other people. We can not change the world or think everyone will see eye-to-eye. Really, we just want to teach great Spanish.

We wish you the best in your travels and very happy to hear that you met great people while studying with us.

Experiencia fantástica: I studied for a week at Blink and highly recommend Dorms - I stayed in the standard dorm and the beds were massive and had 3 hot showers between 8 of us. The facilities were always spotless and clean. Lessons - group lessons which were fast paced and taught well. I was worried about the group element and it being too hard or easy but it was really easy to switch groups to make sure you were at the right level. Loads of people switched around and the staff accommodated this quickly and without issue throughout the week. Other - food was plentiful and varied and the activities were sociable and made it easy to meet others Everyone who worked at blink was helpful and kind in every interaction I had . Really recommend staying and studying with them.

Experiencia fantástica: I found blink by scrolling on Tik toc , I been trying to genuinely learn Spanish for several years and when I say I greatly appreciate the Patience, dedication, and learning style that blink overall offers. When I 1st came in I was little nervous and overwhelmed, but the teachers don’t make you feel dumb, they will make sure you’re understanding, I enjoyed the class options with sizes it’s not big class sizes at all , I stayed 3 weeks with blink 2 weeks I did group classes and 1 week I did private, I will definitely be back at blink for mainly because it was a very welcoming environment . Love love love the teachers I find that it makes the learning much more enjoyable and understanding relatable !

Experiencia fantástica: Just came back from 2 weeks and it was EXCELLENT. I was placed wrong initially and w/o my saying anything, the instructor moved me up within 2 hours. The teachers were energetic, kind, funny, informative, structured and logical. So much better than the first school I had tried in Guadalajara last year. I liked the master classes a lot and really liked doing the private lessons included in my package to really drive home the group lessons. Not only was the instruction great, but the private room I had was nice ,comfortable and convenient. The activities offered for free like salsa lessons, social hours etc were fun. I did some paid extra activities that the school help set up like seeing a soccer game and touring Guatape that I would recommend. Shout out to Christian and Juan and all the staff for making the whole place run so smoothly and being so responsive to all the different people's needs, and especially to Vanessa and Aldair for their instruction. Thanks to all the other students from all over the world, what a privilege it was to be a part of this great community. It was great to have the breakfast and lunches included and they were good but a little repetitive. Thinking of coming back maybe for longer next year.

Experiencia fantástica: THIS SCHOOL!!!! ❤️ The curriculum is well thought out, fluid, and will serve you extremely well when you leave to immerse yourself in the Spanish speaking world. The teachers are truly professional and kind, but tough; .exactly what is required to accelerate learning. You WILL advance your Spanish here rapidly in this supportive, yet challenging, environment. I stayed 3 weeks and am planning to go back one day.

Experiencia positiva: I studied at Blink for 3 weeks and had a great experience. The two teachers I had, Carolina and Veronica - AMAZING. They are such lovely people on top of being great teachers. Super patient but would also push us just enough. I can definitely say I gained a lot of knowledge, and confidence from my classes at Blink. The accomodation is lacking slightly. I understand a hostel isn’t the priority of a spanish school but it could definitely do with some improvements. The big thing being there is no real common area. It would be nice to have somewhere that all the students can hang out together, relax and watch a movie or play board games but other than a couple small couches and 1 table there’s nowhere to do this. The kitchens are also not very well equipped, really lacking in utensils and food storage. Some sort of shelving with individual baskets for people would go a long way! The quality of the dorms rooms also vary aloooot, so if you’re booking maybe request a room with a window and/or ensuite. That said, I had a great time at Blink! I learnt a lot, had a lot of fun and made some really good friends!

Hi Andrea, I appreciate your honest review. I agree that we need more common areas and we are currently building a new rooftop terrace which should alleviate a lot of that. We hope you feel that the value at Blink was amazing. We are not trying to be a luxury hotel - our primary objective is to offer the best value for classes, meals and accommodation in all of S. America. We hope you will come back someday to see our improvements!

Experiencia fantástica: I am currently writing this review from inside my dorm, after being here at Blink Spanish school in Medellin Colombia for one week. I love this school! The classes, dorms, meals, activities, and the vibe are all extraordinary.  My professora, Veronica, has helped me improve so much this week. She focuses on the specific areas I need to improve, so I am always getting the most out of my time and effort. Christian, the founder and owner, walks the halls daily and talks to us to ask how our classes are going, if we need anything, or if we have recommendations for his school. This school is his life's masterpiece and it shows! I am grateful to be a student here, and look forward to returning again in the future.

Experiencia negativa: The owner’s response is bullying and unprofessional — instead of reflecting on his own school or practice, he tries to demean and discredit me. Think to yourself, do you want to give your money to this person? My review is completely truthful and genuine. The reason there are no other one-star reviews is that he’s repeatedly bullied reviewers into removing them. Google reviews should reflect honest experiences, but his attempts to intimidate me into silence clearly go against that principle — and show his unwillingness to improve. I did study there 2 years ago but, if the owner continues to bully me, which he is still doing 2 years later, I will continue to warn other students about this poor school. After my 1st review, the owner emailed me and rather than address my concerns, he talked about losing profits, that I must have had a bad experience because of my bad attitude and that (rather than seek to improve his school) he will collect "evidence" to show my opinions are not valid. After my 2nd he calls me a 'Karen' and bullies me further. Original post: Unfortunately I finished the week feeling like I was at the same level as when I started. And that no real and lasting teaching or learning took place for me. The lesson structures and pedagogy are not set up to facilitate language learning. There was, of course, a focus on grammar. However, we mostly just listened to the teacher talking and writing on the board, copying what he wrote and filling in worksheets. It was not at all conducive to language learning. There was very little speaking practice and no chance to consolidate what we had learnt and apply it to practical situations. I, like most people, came to the school to learn how to have conversations in Spanish but left feeling even less confident to do so. Also, because there is so much material to cover each week, it felt very rushed. There was no flexibility to take into account different learner paces or class dynamics/ interests. More repetition and a slower pace with more chance to practice would mean students retain the knowledge more. And being flexible enough to "go with the flow" and lean into students' interests. The lessons were all based around grammar concepts with no points of interest and no cultural context either. Regarding the teaching style in the group classes. It was very dry and serious. I didn't feel like there was a positive relationship or atmosphere created in the class. Often the teacher didn't seem like he wanted to be there. And the classroom environment didn't feel safe or encouraging. To learn a language (or anything) it's important to be able to make mistakes, have them gently corrected and learn from them. However any mistakes were instantly corrected, sometimes aggressively with a simple "no." Also when I spoke I didn't really feel listened to or seen. Once when I asked a question I was answered: "no es muy importante." "It's not important ". It really affected my speaking confidence. Another point: the lesson often started 10 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early so we lost 20 minutes from each class. When I asked to change class I felt like my concerns were dismissed. Another person has commented that it feels like a language learning factory. I can certainly see that. A last thing. On the website and on posters at the school, the prices are advertised in USD. However when I paid it was more expensive because they had advertised using the exchange rate from 5 weeks ago. Obviously advertising the price as 250 dollars rather than 199 is less attractive but it's a bit disingenuous to advertise one price but charge another. They need to update the price in dollars or change the advertised prices into Pesos so as to ensure a more transparent pricing system. I have attended a few different Spanish language schools in South America and I have also been a fully UK qualified teacher for 15 years including many years in ESL so I feel more qualified than most to make a judgement on the school and in my opinion, if you want to learn Spanish, choose another school.

Blink Spanish Immersion School & Hostel
Blink Spanish Immersion School & Hostel

This is ridiculous, intentionally inflamatory, absolutely personal and highly dishonest.

Says 6 weeks ago but I can verify that this woman studied at BLink over 2 years ago and republished her review 6 weeks ago just out of spite and what seems to be some sort of personal vendetta. Wow.
To clarify...
-Other students we spoke to about this class were extremely positive. Per reviews from other students we have always thought that this person works or worked for another school and possibly attended Blink to pirate curriculum (wouldn´t be the first time).
-Her professor has a Masters Degree and is not only great but one of our curriculum leaders. He´s actually still with us, has an awesome new nose ring, and as I write he is teaching a group of 4 students who extended their study only to continue with him.
-When our staff feels abused by demanding or entitled students we do not ask that they bow down to the client. We urge them to be respectful but to always stand up for themselves and advance at a speed appropriate for the entire class (not just one slow student). Karens hate this, want the entirety of the attention, and apparently they never let it go when someone stands-up to them (or doesn´t let them speak the entire class).
-At Blink we pride ourselves on making fast changes when students communicate with us. Karen did not. Every Monday we change 5-10 students groups up or down .5 levels. At Blink we can do this only because we average 15 different levels/groups per week. This means at Blink we often have levels between levels and as long as you communicate with us we will ensure that you are in the correct level. Karen should have moved down a level or half level 1 hour into her first week. Mental acuity is not universal and this student was absolutely slower than most. This was never expressed to the student. Her internal understanding watching others learn more quickly than her hurt her feelings. Instead of changing to private classes, she instead festered, boiled, talked about her smart degree and continued with a horrible attitude while the other students advanced extremely fast. We openly appologized to all other students in the group as Karen should not have been in the class as she did not show the social aptitude to study in a group environment.
-We are all humans and our professors deserve to be respected on a human level. When people are entitled and instead of speaking to us about problems wait to try and hurt us re passive aggressive personal vendettas... well that is just sad.

Blink has taught over 25k students since we opened and a LARGE majority of them have been extremely satisfied.
PRICE: Blink mini immersion with all housing, meals and classes actually costs 159usd/week (at current conversion) which is well below the 199usd we had posted on our website two years ago.
BLINK LOCATION: One of the safest neighborhoods in Medellín.

Karen was at our school over 2 years ago, this is extremely troubling that google would allow bullying like this and for her to repost a message more than two years after her originally posted comment. Why would a person go out of their way to re-publish such a review 2 years after posting? If their intention was honest and to simply comment on the current status of a business, this is not normal or ethical/honest.
I feel bad that we have to live in a world where Karen´s actually think that bullying people online is in anyway appropriate or effective. I suggest you dye your hair a darker blue, start a podcast (Please don´t publish it, just talk to yourself.) and complain about everything in an echo chamber. Perhaps as a form of therapy you would no longer resort to carrying personal vendettas and trying to hurt people who you don´t agree with.
Zero stars for you, Karen.

Experiencia fantástica: The absolute best experience we've had on vacation ever! My husband and I decided to stay here during our trip to Medellin to practice our Spanish while there. We wish we could've stayed longer! We stayed in the private rooms and it was just like staying at a nice hotel. The staff are extremely accommodating and the kindest people you'll ever meet. Huge shout out to Juan for making our stay possible with all of our schedule changes and requests! The food they provide for lunch is delicious and honestly some of the better local food we've had while there. We never wanted to miss a meal! Amazing excursions too - dancing, futbol games, view points and beer! Wish I got more photos - I was too busy having fun (and all while learning spanish!!). Sebastian is a phenomenal teacher and highly recommend him if you're taking private classes We will be back!

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been here for two weeks already at Blink and I don’t want to leave. If you are on the classic package, you get four hours of lessons a day and then can either take master classes or one private lesson. I’d highly recommend taking the private lesson - if you’re starting from the bottom level of Spanish learning, a lot of the master classes can be very fast and hard to understand. In regards to teachers, they have all been AMAZING so far - teachers go through a lot of different exercises from speaking and listening to reading and writing. You’re given homework most days and it’s advised to practice Spanish on the app devised by some of the staff. Other things I can talk about is the accommodation. I was in a private room so I can’t speak so much of the dorms however during my stay there have been a few issues with power cuts and water leaks. Regardless, it’s a really social in the dorms and the restaurant next door where you are given breakfast and lunch. I wouldn’t say breakfast is very sufficient (it’s usually a small portion of fruit and granola and some eggs) but lunch keeps you full for a lot of the day. You get a soup to start and then get a main dish with meat and rice. So in total, only really really good things to say! you get super comfortable and won’t want to move on.

Experiencia fantástica: My partner and I studied at Blink for one week (would highly recommend longer!) and we had a great experience. We were in a beginner class of 4 people, which was an ideal class size and our teacher Carolina was incredibly helpful and patient with all our questions. We don’t always find it the easiest to concentrate for long periods of time but Carolina ensured the lessons were enjoyable and engaging. For a private room, breakfast and lunch, the price was affordable and great value for money - and a very social environment too!

Harry was an amazing teacher and really pushed us so I came away feeling a lot better than when I joined.I loved he was open to talking about Colombia with us so we learnt a lot culturally as well as the Spanish. The food included for breakfast and lunch was great and far better than other hostel meal offerings. We had a private room and it was really spacious and the balcony was a highlight.

Made some awesome friends for life, the social atmosphere at the hostel is super fun and Medellin is a great city to explore. The breakfasts and lunches are really good, however my only note is that the hostel kitchens are very basic and could do with extra utensils etc. overall would 100% recommend Blink!!

Experiencia fantástica: This was one of my favourite weeks of my Central and South America backpacking trip. Everything was great. I improved my confidence so much and I loved my teacher Daniel G as he taught us more than what you would find in a textbook, and made class really fun too. Outside of class, they organised loads of social events (e.g social hour at a bar, visiting other neighbourhoods, salsa classes, watching football matches) some of which the teachers came to as well which was really nice. It is a great way to immerse yourself in some Colombian culture whilst making new friends! In terms of living at the school, the bedrooms were a great setup. I stayed in a shared dorm which had pod-style beds giving you loads of privacy. The beds were also slightly larger than a single meaning you could sprawl out. Despite the mattresses being a bit firm, I slept great! The bedroom had an en-suite but there are also toilets/ showers scattered about the building. To make life easy, the school also has a laundromat and restaurant which serves you breakfast and lunch each day of class. The food was nice - lunch was menu del día plus other meat options and breakfast changed each morning but always had coffee, a bowl of fruit, yoghurt & granola, and a big plate which ranged from pancakes to omelettes. These aspects make everything so much easier and all the staff members were really friendly and wanted to help you practice your Spanish! From the teachers, to the receptionists, to the cleaners, to the waitresses, everyone was so lovely. Location-wise, El Poblado is a lovely area and there are tons of cafes and restaurants surrounding Blink as well as a few bars. There’s a really nice supermarket and train station about a ten minute walk away and a bank just over the road. I felt safe and easily connected to the rest of the city. The ONLY fault I have of Blink is that the shared kitchen spaces are really small and not very well equipped making it a chore to cook dinner for yourself. There is a really nice new kitchen but it gets so busy and there is limited space. Most people end up eating out anyways but if you’re on a budget cooking for yourself can help. Overall I had a fantastic week and would 100% recommend Blink. If you’re thinking about it then just do it. My friends and I came for one week but wished we could’ve stay for 2 because we all loved it that much. And if you do come, ask for Daniel (he’s the GOAT.)

Experiencia fantástica: I had a fantastic two-week Spanish learning experience with Daniel at Blink! He is a passionate and patient teacher who creates a fun and supportive learning environment. Every class was full of energy, and I could feel my speaking and listening improving every day. Daniel made learning enjoyable and gave me the confidence to use Spanish in real conversations. Highly recommended for anyone looking to boost their Spanish skills!

Experiencia fantástica: We did two weeks of Spanish school at Blink and we’d definitely recommend it. Firstly, the school is organised very well. The classes are well constructed with everyone at a similar level, the extra curricular activities are fun, and all communications are clear and effective. The buildings and location are also great, with El Poblado being a very nice area to spend time in. However, the best thing about Blink by far is the teachers. I had Daniel Gaitan who was excellent, and my girlfriend had Harry who was also fantastic. They manage to strike a great balance between being very friendly and welcoming, and also great professionals. Whether you are serious about learning Spanish for the future, or whether you just want to pick some up for travelling, I would definitely recommend Blink. The masterclasses are also excellent, and the school’s price is very fair. Thanks for a great experience Blink!

Experiencia negativa: I was a student at Blink for two weeks. I opted for the package with 1 private class, no meals, and no accommodation. Pros: The food at Blink’s restaurant is great! Cheap, fulling, and flavorful. It was much cheaper to go here than other places in the surrounding area. Juan, the man responsible for creating the weekly schedule, seems to be the most efficient worker there. I enjoyed the conversational aspect of my classes. Prior to Colombia, I was in Guatemala for about 6 weeks. In Guatemala, classes are more specialized “one on one”. I found this to be draining after the 3rd week. I liked Blink’s approach to group classes because the 4 hours flew by. The class structure was: learning, do exercises, a break, conversation. I found my teacher, Yenni, to be personable and thorough. I liked that Blink provided materials as well. Cons: The speed the classes go by is quite fast. I understand Blink has a transient population and therefore, there is a push to get in as much content for the time the students are there but I don’t believe it’s conducive to actual learning. I suggest taking 3 master classes instead of 1 private class. I found my private teacher, Daniel R., to such a pleasure to work with and I wish him the best on his singing career! My teacher Yenni seemed to be quite willfully ignorant about the United States. She would encode her comments in “oh these are just stereotypes” but she would continuously apply them. I am a teacher myself, so I am personally sensitive to the spread of misinformation. I believe if you are in the position to facilitate conversation, it is your responsibility to be as unbiased as possible. She stated many false comments to support her negative beliefs, such as: 1. In the United States, it is within our social studies curriculum to only learn about the history the United States (which is false). 2. Despite a number of occasions of the Colombian staff speaking quite loud (which was disruptive to our studies), if an American student also spoke at that same level she would state: Americans are so loud 3. She told a Chinese student, “You’re in Colombia so you must act as Colombians do” which I found quite offensive. 4. She stated Spanish was not widely spoken in the US (despite it being the second most spoken language in the USA) And many other comments that I could have personally done without. I think she’s a good teacher but as a teacher, cultural sensitivity and understanding is necessary when teaching an international population. Edit: I removed a few stars due to the owner’s careless response. The idea that it’s “woke” to try and state factual information is quite hilarious. It’s one thing to state your opinion but as a teacher, students are not paying to be denigrated. In my time in Colombia, I encountered MANY Black Colombians who boldly stated to me their discomfort with being called “Negro”, despite the fact that non-Black Colombians shared with me many times “it has no negative connotations”. Colombia is a country that is quite different from the United States, as in their being less frequent immigration. As a country, it hasn’t had to grapple with the concept of “otherness” in the way that it appears in many Western countries in the 21st century. The fact of the matter is, you are dealing with an international population. People are paying money to learn Spanish and not received half-witted comments on their place of origin. This same mode of thoughtlessness exist in the United States but with more political power and financial backing. “You are in ______ and thus you must act as ______ do” is rhetoric that is close-minded, ethnocentric, and has much deeper implications. I am well traveled. I am also an immigrant in the United States. More than anything, I understand the value of money and great customer service. Thank you for making it clear this is not an ideal school for Black students.

Hola Alexandra,
Thank you for your review. Yenni is an exceptional Spanish teacher and we fully support her. We absolutely appreciate your study with us. While we want 5-stars from everyone, we still very much appreciate your message. Hearing employees talking from time to time is something we can surely try to improve.

Personally, I see your message as an opportunity to educate re our cultural differences. I instruct our professors to not follow ´wokeism´ of feel they should acclimate to the cultures of their students. They should be who they are and communicate appropriately but honestly to who they are. Spanish, especially the subjunctive mood changes your though process and how you describe everything. Many people are horrified when they learn that it is common for Colombians to call you (a stranger or friend, anyone actually) black, white, fat, skinny or gay the very first time they meet you. It is a jolt at first. You actually have to learn how to not be triggered by this and to accept that this is just how many people here communicate. To learn that calling someone ´blacky´ can simply an identifier (generally said with ZERO negative connotation) is hard for many N. Americans and Europeans to understand. Ignorant comments on part of professor not related to Spanish language re: the population of USA are not something you should come to Colombia to learn. This is just a product of conversation which we always encourage and we only round our actual education by conversation which naturally exposes errors and allows us to learn from other people. Open conversation, it is a tool for practicing Spanish and in the process our professors always learn a lot about you, your country, and better understand your culture.

A responsible traveler should know that how people communicate in China is not how people communicate in Colombia. Yes, foreigners in Colombia should adapt and not be offended by a new culture. If they are offended easily they may not want to travel or live in Colombia. A starting point that your way is best or absolute, your education is correct or better, others are ignorant if they don´t think like you... this is never a good starting point to actually learning or understanding how Spanish grammar dictates part of how we speak. That Chinese student could have been black, straigh, gay, Indian or Palestinian and the Colombian wouldn´t have changed the way they expressed themselves. Starting your sentence with CHINESE just says you´ve been triggered already and think there is a racial motivation. This would apply to any visitor in a foreign place. If you want to enjoy Latin America it is important to accept that you personally may be offended - but that we are not trying to offend you. That easily triggered/offended reaction is something you learned... You learned this in another country and it is a biproduct of YOUR culture which we would need to be open to if we chose to visit your home. Hopefully, Colombia can be spared from this elite wokeism that is so easily offended and judges others without ever trying to understand them. A fundamental truth: It is an ignorant act to travel and impose who you are on the people you interact with.

With all of that, we do hope you will return and study with us again. Honestly a great conversation to be had here.

Experiencia fantástica: I had an incredible time at Blink. Most of enjoyment is thanks to the students I met and my incredible teacher Esteban B. I'm at B2 level (I am living in spain) so it was really important for me to find a teacher who had the expertise and experience to really push me further and words cannot express how amazing Esteban B was. I really felt lucky to be assigned to him. He is an absolute expert at grammar both in Spanish and English, and is a master at being able to teach new concepts at advanced levels. No matter what question or challenge I had, he always had the answer. Even better was his knowledge of spanish (from Spain) so was able to teach me both Spanish versions so I can go home speaking with confidence. I initially booked one week of private lessons but happily extended for 2 weeks knowing Esteban was my teacher. The concept of having a hostel and school in one is great. You're living with other students and can share spaces to study or work whilst also have lots of social activities too. Much better to have this then be in a nearby party hostel and not be able to focus on your studies. For the rooms, I upgraded to a queen size dorm. I loved it because the beds are huge and space to keep your belongings next to you. Also sharing with only 4 people felt better than a standard dorm. Fortunately, I didn't have cockroach infestations or any issues with cleanliness.

Experiencia fantástica: I just spent two weeks at Blink from Feb 9-17 and loved it. These were two of their busiest weeks of the year (100+ students), so if you like a social atmosphere, this is for you! Every day you get a hardy breakfast and lunch at the restaurant next to the school and get to know the other students. They have activities like a social, dance class, exploring a new neighborhood, soccer game and hike almost every day, and many students were organizing other events. There's really something for everyone, whether you're serious about studying, or serious about enjoying the social Medellin life. As far as accommodations, my initial dorm mattress was a little hard and the room was a little hot, but I bought a mini fan at Dollar City, and that was a game-changer. I had a private room the second week, and that was lovely. I also really appreciated that they were serious about the 11pm sound curfew on school nights! I'm a language teacher myself in the U.S., and I was very impressed by their structured curriculum and classes. I will say that this school is geared towards the lower levels, and since I came in with a B1.3 Spanish level (each level is divided into 3 parts), they actually didn't have a group class for me, so I had to take private classes. This was totally fine for me, and it might depend on the week, but they had full classes of 4-6 students each in all the levels up through B1.2. Overall thanks so much, Blink! I've already recommended the program to my friends and have plotted how I can come back :)

Absolute Empfehlung!

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely loved my time at Blink. Veronica is such a good teacher and we had so much fun in class. There are so many different classes for different levels so they are able to put in exactly where you belong according to your previous knowledge. The hostel part is basic but has everything you need. Everyone loves it here so there is such a good vibe. I recommend staying 2 weeks to get the most out of it. I upgraded to a private room which I also recommend as you get a desk to do homework and you have a private space after class to relax and study. The breakfasts and lunches provided were great too. Blink also plans so many activities and they can help you plan your own as well. Overall the best experience!

Mateo and Maria were the best I am so grateful I was placed with them! They both bring so much energy passion and care to each lesson, you can tell they both genuinely love Medellín, the spanish language and teaching everything from traditional spanish, helpful coloquial terms and culture here in Colombia! I came in speaking very little to no spanish and left 2 weeks later having conversations, going on dates with locals, and feeling night and day compared to when I started! One of my favorite experiences to date, if you want to learn spanish in a fun structured environment with a ton of resources, this is the spot for you! I will for sure be continuing my spanish journey here! Muchas Gracias, Maria, Mateo y Blink!

Experiencia positiva: Education: I stayed at Blink for 3 weeks and in my experience, they have a pretty good educational system. I learned a good amount and had a great experience with 90% of the teachers that I came across. If you are a beginner or intermediate Spanish speaker, you will learn a lot at Blink if you apply yourself. I recommend master classes for beginners and private classes for more advanced students. Note: The classrooms are clean, spacious, and have air conditioners. Food: The food is amazing and I am so grateful that Blink has such great vegan and vegetarian options. During my stay, there was always something for everyone. I highly recommend paying for the food package. Housing: The only aspect of Blink that I did not like is the housing. There's no ventilation inside the rooms and bathrooms, therefore, there is mold everywhere. Instead of fixing the problem, the mold is painted over. Because of this, I was sick during my entire stay. I also found two cockroaches in my bed so I slept on the couch for my last two nights. Staying in the hostel IS cool because there are quiet hours (which is important while in school) and it's nice to "live" with people in the same boat as you, but for me, the cons outweigh the pros. If I return, I will most likely stay at a hostel nearby while schooling with Blink. In conclusion, Blink is amazing. I learned a lot and I met great people, but the hostel needs to be updated. Shoutout to Professors Harry & Daniel Romero!!! Thanks for everything.

Experiencia positiva: It took me some time to finally write this review, but I felt it was important to provide constructive feedback and also highlight the positives. As a whole, Blink was an incredible place to study, but accommodation was absolutely lacking/stressful and contributed negatively to my time there as a student. I studied at Blink for two weeks in July-Aug upon recommendation from a friend back home. I want to start off with the fact that it was the best way to begin travels in South/Central Am, and to regain footing in Spanish after not practicing for 10 years. I enrolled in Unlimited and found it absolutely worth the value from an educational standpoint, and loved my teachers (Maria, Harry, Esteban, Veronica). I completed the masterclasses and ended up really enjoying learning from every single teacher at Blink that I interacted with. The cons: there was a serious cockroach infestation that I do not believe was taken seriously as it did not impact all students, but primarily the 2 first floor dorms. Within my first few days, I was waking up to small cockroaches in the room but was told this was relatively normal in South Am (which I accepted as I had just arrived). This turned out to never be an issue elsewhere in Medellin, Colombia, or other lodging that I booked in South/Central. This is not to mention the cockroaches in the hallways/bathrooms. Soon enough, the cockroaches were in my bed (I was in the 8-person dorms on the first level) and I was finding them in the afternoons and waking up to several crawling around me on the walls, or even in the bed. The situation was escalated, and reception did promptly call for fumigation. However, within a day, the cockroaches were all back. Turns out that the kitchen cupboards were absolutely infested with them, and I doubt these were deep cleaned at all in the fumigation process or regularly - rendering the solution useless. As someone who is particular about hygiene, this absolutely detracted from focus and sleep. I asked to be switched to a different room, and was met with mostly apathy if not outright annoyance by reception (not all receptionists, but a few). I was then told that I would have to pay an additional fee to switch to a free upstairs bed that I heard was free of cockroaches, despite the ongoing infestation now 1 week in. I expressed dissatisfaction with the situation, and a receptionist confirmed he would check with the boss if I could move upstairs, but for now I was given a room in the basement. Reception never followed up on the situation, and at this point I had given up so long as there weren’t bugs crawling into my bed. TLDR: Blink as a school was incredible and I am incredibly thankful for connections made here. Blink as a hostel has a lot of room for growth. It’s possible that reception doesn’t prioritize the hostel/hygiene as much, and views their priority as the school. But I do believe that with the current model, both are equally important and would do well with a closer look. I am still looking into online classes and am looking to recommend friends, but would not do so to their hostels unless the situation improved.

Experiencia positiva: We spend two weeks at blink and we enjoyed it, but there are some things that are not ok and it might be good to know that before going to blink The lessons are great, no doubt about that, amazing teachers, good lesson materials and plenty of levels to make sure that you are in a group that fits your level, they also allow for last minute switches in case you think that your level is higher or lower. The people that come here are also great, it's a great way to start a longer travel making friends and connections that you will meet at other points during your travel. But they sell an all inclusive pack, and that's where it goes wrong imo, the facilities are average at best. The dorms have no windows and there's almost no ventilation, it smells incredible bad and after a few days you'll hear people coughing everywhere. We went away for the weekend to recover but a few days after we got back we started coughing again. It's also incredibly noisy, the walls are super thin and there's a lot of echo, we had many days where we were woke up at 6am by construction workers coming in for repairs, no idea why this happens this early either. One evening the dog of the hostel kept barking for an hour and pretty much woke up everyone that was close to the hallway. Also the dorm rooms cannot be locked, you're supposed to keep your valuables in your locker, but it would still be nice to close the dorm just for the sake of mind. My Advice would be, don't take the all inclusive package. It's dirt cheap I must admit, but there's a reason why it's cheap and that's the quality of the rooms. The restaurant is connected to blink, the staff is very friendly and they make delicious food, unfortunately if you have a class that ends at 1pm (which is more than half the classes) half the menu is already finished, after we gave feedback we could take the break earlier to take some lunch but it would be nice if they actually get the menus for the amount of people enrolled since the default answer we got almost every day was, it's not available. In short, rooms have no windows or ventilation and in general the quality of the dorms is bad. Classes teachers and the people are great

Hey Wouter, we appreciate the feedback and always trying to make Blink better. A few things to clarify for readers.
-There are no windows in Medellín and most Colombian cities for a majority of internal rooms... just the way the city is constructed and ALL buildings sharing common walls. Surely not ideal but your rooms all had AC and daily cleaning in bathrooms.
-Our restaurant is incredibly popular with the locals. Like any restaurant that locally sources all food daily - yes we will run out of certain menu items and can never anticipate exact number of clients each day. This seems really nitpicky as it only goes to show that our food is excellent. Of course we wish you had been able to have a certain menu item and we are sorry that was not the case. If I remember correctly, we actually changed your lunch hour for your last two days to ensure you could partake. Appreciate you mentioning that part.
-We will have to contest the ´everyone sick and coughing´ as if that is our fault. If you had some sick people in your dorm, we are sorry - but nothing to do with the cleanliness or anything else that can be attributed to Blink. Travelers get sick and often sick together... again, we totally understand it being uncomfortable if someone is sick in your dorm but that is part of hostel travel.
-DOG barking for an hour - this will be contested with video evidence from our reception. It was 10 minutes and I am sorry it bothered you. This also occurred before our nightly sound curfew begins at 11pm to ensure peace for all students on school nights. It is my dog, so I feel really bad for him because he was stressed and even barking 10 mins. I arrived at 1055pm and the dog is now in the hands of a full-time caretaker while I visit family abroad. Those future students who do like dogs, Gonzo can be found in the administrative office everyday for free pets, licks and playtime.

We wish you guys the best, Wouter! I hope life will afford you an opportunity to understand how a review like yours (which are opinions not shared by a majority of our hostel guests) truly damage peoples businesses and the jobs of many - just because some guy wanted to get pissed off about a dog. I hope you will think about implications of emotional responses before publishing them to the world in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: Overall a very good experience with very enthusiastic and engaging teachers. I did the package with unlimited masterclasses and 2 private lessons. Group classes were from 8-12 and they were taught in a very dynamic way depending on our needs. Masterclasses were more structured and reviewed specific topics. Private classes were student lead which was nice as you could review what you wanted. Everyone working on the team from reception, restaurant, cleaners, maintenance and coordinators were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast and lunch were amazing and filling. We had one small issue with our room that was dealt with quickly and quietly. Dorms are comfortable and there’s plenty of showers with hot water. Only constructive criticism would be that the communal kitchen could do with a few more pans, sharp knives, bowls etc. Another consideration would be to just book one week at a time. I learned so much in one week but in order to consolidate what I learned I need to go and actually practice it in the real world before adding another layer. Overall a fabulous experience and I will definitely consider another week in the future.

Experiencia positiva: I'm leaving an honest review because the two elements that made up my stay at blink were somewhat polarizing. First to talk about the education which I can't fault. I had three teachers over my time at blink: Maria, Daniel and Harry and they were all 10/10, kind and supportive, they made lessons engaging and all of them were super knowledgeable about the English langauge as well which helped when teaching the elements of Spanish that you can't directly translate. The masterclasses were also really good, I had an unlimited masterclass package for two weeks and managed to do everything relevant to my level in Spanish in that time. On the other side is the accomodation at blink which was not up to standard. It is good value when you add it onto a class package and the lunches in the restaurant were good. However the hostel was not clean enough. The first room I stayed in we had to be moved out of due to a lot of cockroaches being in there, the school said it was fumigated on one of the days in the week but they were back within 2 days coming out of holes in the walls and we had not had any open food in there. The second room we were put in was clean but there were more beds than there should have been in the space it was very cramped with only around 1ft wide floor space outside the beds. The downstairs kitchen was also full of cockroaches in the cupboards, it looked like it had not had a deep clean in a very very long time and both kitchens were poorly equipped no pans with handles, hardly any plates or cutlery which makes it hard to cook there, unlabeled food was never cleared out of the fridges so a lot of things were sitting in there mouldy. Bathrooms were also often not clean, it felt like they needed to be cleaned twice as regularly as they were for the number of people using them. Some staff were helpful, other times it felt like our concerns about the cockroaches in our beds and other things were dismissed. The whole building was funigated the day before we left, the hostel gave notice Friday evening that we needed to have our stuff packed and out of the rooms for 10am the following morning and were a little belittling when it was raised that this is very inconvenient timing. I would go to school at blink again but I'd be reluctant to stay at the hostel especially not in a dorm.

Hey Emily, as a business owner reviews like yours are great because they will make us improve. So two notes.
1. I am thrilled that all of your teachers over your time with us were 10/10.
2. The hostel must be cleaner and our staff needs to step-up. We have blooms of bugs in our rainforrest climate and we need to respond quicker when they appear. I hope you will come back and stay with us and when you do I hope that your housing experience is 10x better.

Thanks again for studying with us, the entire team really appreciates it!

Experiencia positiva: The school itself and the food at the restaurant is very good, my teacher Yenni was able to explain concepts really well also did a master class with Daniel and that was also very informative so I definitely recommend that side. On the other hand the hostel isn't as great, lack of cutlery/cups/bowls, no oven gloves/shelves so makes cooking very hard and they decided to do a bug fumigation and we had to leave our rooms on Saturday morning, the one day you can relax, and only told the afternoon before, which was very inconvenient.

Experiencia fantástica: Blink has to be one of the best Spanish schools in all of Latin America — not just in Colombia. My favorite part is the setup they have with the school attached to Casa Blink (hostel), the restaurant, and the laundromat! The convenience of having everything right there is unmatched. It doesn’t hurt that they’re located in Manila — the best neighborhood in Poblado at the moment. The social aspect of the school is just icing on the cake. I have made lifelong friends through Blink and it’s really cool to have a space where you can mee like-minded people that intentionally made the decision to come to a language school to improve their Spanish. I would highly recommend studying at Blink.

Blink is a school with very good teachers and well organized for the lessons, master class, breakfast and lunch, social time, .. We were supposed to stay only one week but we extended as the lessons are really good and intensive. We were sleeping in a couple dorm, it was nice to be able to sleep in a double bed without paying extra money for a private room. First time ever I see that in a hostel Also, the cleaners are doing an amazing job, the kitchen, dorms and bathrooms were always very clean. Thanks to teachers Carolina, Harry, Daniel and Sandra. Also thanks to Juan and Juan at the reception for their warm welcome and perfect organisation in the schedule for school and activities. If you want to progress a bit in Spanish or even start from zero, this school is a very good spot. The location is also excellent !

Experiencia fantástica: By far the best Spanish school in not only Medellin but in Latin American. Throughout my travels I have attended a few Spanish schools but nothing compared to the teachers and curriculum they have at Blink. My teacher, Mateo, really sparked a flame for me to continue learning Spanish.

Experiencia fantástica: recommend! This is an awesome school to learn in. The teachers are fantastic, it’s super social for activities and study, the food in the restaurant next door is amazing and healthy and the dorms are comfy (AC & free towels). No matter where you are on your Spanish journey, this is the school for you

Experiencia positiva: Really cool place to learn Spanish, with great teachers. There are up to 80 students, so students are well placed in groups in the right levels (up to B1 level generally). It's not really an immersion school though. Outside of the classes, almost exclusively english is spoken. I also had a bad experience where I wasn't made aware of the time of my private lesson, and then I wasn't permitted to reschedule it. The communications from Blink need to be clearer in this area. Students get buried in communications and information from Blink which makes it difficult to pick out the important pieces of information.

Hola Tom, really cool place to learn Spanish with great teachers. That is exactly what we want for our students. I am personally sorry you had a scheduling problem. If the missed class was not visible in your schedule that you received I will definitely give you an hour online on me.

It is true that we communicate a lot of information and schedules. It is very important at Blink to read your schedule and cancel accordingly with notice because Blink pays professors for missed classes. That is why we have a 24 hour cancelation policy.

I am glad you had a good time but disappointed that a missed private class would merit a 3 star rating which does not represent ´cool place to learn with great teachers´.

Experiencia fantástica: Wow! What an incredible experience. I had no idea when j signed up just how beneficial these classes were going to be for me. Having not studied Spanish formally since I was at school 15 years ago, I was a bit nervous but I needn’t have worried at all! My teachers Harry and Matteo were absolutely amazing. Leading the classes so well, identifying my weak areas and patiently encouraging me in every class. The progress I made in those two weeks is indescribable! I also stayed in a private room which was super cute and perfect for what me and my partner needed. The shower was also amazing. A nice treat after months of cold traveler showers!

Experiencia fantástica: 100% Recommend!!! Was placed in a class that perfectly matched my level, classes are in small groups of 4-6 students with very motivated teachers that make every class a lot of fun (special credits to John Sebas)! Very efficient way of learning, improved a lot in just 1 week. The masterclasses (1 hour zooming in on a specific subject) are an addition to the regular classes and are very good as well. I wish I had known about blink before, will definitely come back here for some more weeks of Spanish! In addition they do lots of social activities, so you won’t feel alone! Good vibes & good classes!

Experiencia fantástica: This is the most effective Spanish school I've ever attended. I was taking private classes and had 4 different teachers (Maria Lucia, Laura, David, Esteban) who all taught extremely well. I improved my Spanish a lot over the course of a few weeks and even my Colombian friends told me that they noticed the improvements in my Spanish. On top of that, the non-teaching staff are also very nice and helpful and they were always willing to accommodate my schedule. I will definitely study here again when I come back to Medellin.

_Et enfin le dernier Email reçu est assez cocasse : "We are giving away a free private hour for the best (honest) review on google posted within the 7 days starting today." Je ne pense pas que je vais gagner cette heure gratuite..

Miserable human who doesn`t read their messages and blames others when he can`t follow simple instructions. If you disagree with managment be honest about your problem. Don´t say the classes are good and leave one star?
-YOU SIGNED UP LAST MINUTE ON THE SUNDAY BEFORE CLASSES.
We are a school. We teach 18 levels of Spanish EVERY week. Last minute sign-ups are asking for chaos... especially when they don´t read messages. We are a large school with 30 professors and 1,000+ hours per week. Very sorry that your late sign-up caused changes to our schedule and that your first class time was changed. This was communicated with you directly. Still, we are sorry if it wasn´t with enough notice.

We gave Mathieu a specialized group for fast/French students and he repays us with a message like this because he feels he lost 3 hours of his group class and 15 minutes of a master class. Beware of people like this - they don`t mention much their amazing group teacher, the excelent curriculum, air conditioned class rooms... and because they couldn`t read the clear print that 2 person groups receive 15 and not 20 hours (most schools it is less than 15), they feel entitled to write a message like this about a company that
-Employs 85 Colombians and not 1 volunteer
-Profit shares
-Houses Employees
-Feeds employees
-SENDS A LOT OF EMAILS because we are a real school and people sign up for many classes that send email confirmations and reminders.
-We also have professors and employees who ARE HUMANS. Sometimes someone makes a mistake and a teacher arrives 15 minutes late.

Horrible selfish person. Mathieu, I give you ZERO stars as a human. Blink has taught 20,000 students. You had a GREAT group teacher. Focus on the negative. Choose to be miserable. I feel bad for you and the very few apples like you who get off on trying to harm others. Honestly, it is a sad, sad thing.

My name is Christian Robinson, I am the owner of Blink Spanish. Mathieu never came and spoke to me. When the scheduling administrator informed me that he did not like the schedule change I immediately walked to his classroom to confirm with him personally that everything was clear and ok. I have never written anything like this in my life and I stand behind this 1000%.

Experiencia fantástica: Blink has a practical, purpose-build and professional approach towards making spanish accessible to travellers and students as quick as possible. Within the few days at the school you will learn so much that you don't believe and that's thanks to motivated, friendly at the same time professional teachers. I was specially lucky to have my first week with Juan. Good value for time and money. Highly recommended.

Experiencia fantástica: I completed 1 week at Blink so far and am looking forward to attending for my second. The atmosphere at Blink is amazing and the teachers do everything to help you tackle the language. Classes are taught in a fun and interactive way. Whilst small class sizes ensure the level is tailored to your ability. Living in house, with delicious catering, allows you too focus on the main aspect - Spanish :) Interesting activities in the evening and being surrounded by many like minded individuals, with the same objective, is very fun - I would definitely recommend Blink!

Experiencia negativa: Pros: I enjoyed my group classes with Daniela who is lovely, Daniel R is great for the private classes, friendly, helpful and easy to chat to, even in 2 hours I felt I improved. The school is sociable, I enjoyed the events, food at the canteen is tasty and filling. Negatives: We were promised we'd be in the same room yet when we arrived they put us in different rooms. I got eaten alive by BED BUGS my first night there. (I would guess 30-40 bites) They told us they'd had a bed bug issue for 3 weeks by the time we got there and lied about having fumigated the room. Spraying a bit of chemicals out of an old pepsi bottle is not fumigation, and allowing 7 people to continue sleeping in the room for several more nights and not finding them alternative accommodation is not taking the problem seriously. When we signed up we were given a dollar price only but then told we had to pay in pesos but using their fixed awful exchange rate that added over $30 USD/person/week. Of course when they were giving us money back from our deposits, they instead used the correct exchange rate so they could give us less. To my mind the use of two different rates is evidence that they didn't just forget to update the exchange rate, they have a deliberate policy to mislead potential customers. We were promised a full refund for the nights in the bed bug room yet in the end when we moved out they tried to backtrack and save every peso they could. Also, in contrast to Daniel, I found my 2nd private teacher very rude. She seemed to take pleasure every time I made a mistake and my session with her was really unpleasant and quite bizarre. Even with the misleading, inflated prices the package is still one of the cheapest out there, but you really do get what you pay for. EDIT since the reply: Bed bugs can pop up in any hostel. The issue was the way the problem was handled by management. We were lied to about the "fumigation" which never happened and were promised a full refund of the accommodation by two members of staff, only for this amount to be reduced at the last minute.

Hola Oliver, I am really sorry that due to a world wide epidemic, once in a while we have bed bugs like every other establishment in the world. It sucks and it happens. We treat Blink constantly... CONSTANTLY. We have had 25,000 students at Blink and less than 15 bed bug cases in our history. We hate it as much as you, trust me. Every place in the world will have bed bugs appear from time to time. You were here during a difficult week and I am happy to say we have not had a bed bug incident since. Sure, we know it will eventually happen again as bed bugs are almost always brought in by other travelers and there are no machines to inspect backpackers for bedbugs. I am glad you had a good study, we take a lot of pride in that. Wish you all the best.

Experiencia fantástica: Great school for learning Spanish! I can notice my Spanish improving day by day due to the intensive classes in small groups. Great curriculum, lots of extra classes to choose from to focus on your personal goals, and very positive and motivating teachers. The hostel dorm is good and clean, the included meals (big meals of breakfast and lunch) are good as well, and the dedicated staff is there for you 24/7. They organise some social acitivities as well, I’m having a lot of fun with my fellow students. Would recommend 100%!

Experiencia fantástica: So happy I walked past Blink and decided to look into studying Spanish with this amazing school! From their super friendly and knowledgable staff and founder Christian who is super present and dedicated to the students success, to the varied options of very affordable packages with classes, dorms and breakfast/lunch included or private rooms that can be added onto your package for an extra fee (definitely worthwhile if you’re staying for a little while in my opinion!), to the fun, easy to follow curriculum that is tailored to your tested knowledge of Spanish, you will feel so at home and taken care of at Blink! It feels like a family and is such an amazing environment for making new friends, soaking in the amazing Medellín culture in a safe and cool area of El Poblado while immersing your brain in all things Español! The BEST decision I have made in a very long time, I cannot wait to see where I am in the next few days, weeks and potentially months studying with Blink!

My teacher (Mateo) is great. He is quick in estimating what you know and don’t know, he makes the lessons fun and interactive and the classroom feels like safe space. Experiencia positiva: I initially signed up for one week but I've just signed up for my third after a 'week off' in some more relaxing areas of Antioquia :) The school is a lot of fun, quite intense with a mixture of group and private classes and homework to complete every day. I felt we covered quite a lot and the private classes were a good chance to go over concepts 1:1 and practice speaking. I found my profesora very inspiring and fun to learn from, and in fact all the teachers I met were lovely humans, well qualified and good at what they do. The hostel itself is fairly basic and IMO could do with some larger and more comfortable common areas (a yoga/exercise space would be great, a bigger sofa/tv room and larger areas to sit in to eat at dinnertime). Bunkbeds were a bit hard but generously sized with a curtain, light and plug socket. There were various free/very low cost trips and activities going on through the week; I did tejo, salsa and tours of the centre and botanic gardens. Overall it was a great experience and very good value for what you get, considering accommodation and two meals a day were included in the price.

I actually came for one week and liked it so much that I came back to Colombia a couple months later to study again. I took both group and private classes. Experiencia fantástica: Best Spanish School in Medellin! The structure of their curriculum and small class sizes are perfect for anyone whether you studied bit before coming or don't know the language at all. They have well qualified professors who are all very patient and well knowledgeable of how to teach in a way that anyone can catch on quickly and become conversationally proficient in no time. I learned a lot in just the first 2 weeks and was able to confidently communicate with the locals without a translator. I really like the hostel as well as the tours and social events, too! Together, they create a great environment to interact with locals and also with other students at different levels. Definitely a great value for the price. I recommend this school to anyone who is serious about learning Spanish.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a very good experience on Calle 12 (Street 12) in Poblado (Medellin) at Blink Spanish School! Check in was simple. I got a private room with bathroom, which was very clean and nice. There is good security everywhere, with a keyed entry and code to get in the private dormitory, and then a personal key for your bedroom door. Each day breakfast and lunch is included in the weekday, and the food was great Colombian food! Healthy and delicious. The staff at the main office is very friendly and answered any questions I had and always had someone who could speak English there to help. There are people here from all over the world, including Europe, The Middle East, and of course the USA/North America to learn. They have a lot of night activities but I passed on them (for the younger crowd). The area of El Poblado the school is in has many great restaurants and is close to many tours available for the city, plus a large Exito (think Walmart but way nicer) for all your needs within walking distance. Now, the Spanish. I only did private lessons, though it seemed Everyone I talked to was having fun with their lessons together. My teacher, Jhon Sebastian, was excellent and deserves five stars himself! Creative and personal, making it a tailored experience. For me, it is five stars! LAST THING: This is not really about Blink but anyone coming to Medellin as a tourist and doesn’t know the culture. Read up and study. This is a big city. Poblado has a bit of a small town feel, but there are millions of people here. Like any big city, don’t walk the streets by yourself at night. Be aware of your surroundings. And don’t be out late, in my opinion past 9-10 walking. Unless you are VERY close to the school and with friends, get a cab or Uber always at night when it is getting later. Stay safe.

Experiencia fantástica: I had such an amazing time at this school and I could not recommend it enough. I particularly enjoyed it because of my teacher , Professor Esteban A. He was so helpful & understanding, and made all the classes fun & well- suited to everyone’s level. I would really recommend his teaching style which was a mixture of grammar and having chats / practicing speaking. I have been to other Spanish schools in Latin America and I personally felt this was the best because of the great teaching and well-structured learning (they have an official syllabus for each level). It also had a social atmosphere between students/ staff and good social areas in the hostel. One thing that also stood out about Blink was the positive nature of the business - the owner was really passionate about making sure staff were treated well and I think this really shone through in the whole vibe of the school. I would personally recommend staying here for at least a few weeks - we initially planned to stay only one week but extended our stay to three (if I had time I would have done more).

Experiencia fantástica: Just finished two weeks at blink and it was amazing!!!! My teacher, professor Aura, was so amazing, she made every class fun, we played games to practice our Spanish, she was patient with us and we laughed a lot in every lesson. I will miss seeing her everyday! ❤️ I can’t believe how much Spanish I’ve learnt in two weeks and I leave feeling so much more confident. Definitely recommend this school, much better than the previous one I’ve been to!

Sabrina Kment Publicada en Google 2 years ago

Experiencia positiva: The teachers here are very nice, the staff extraordinarily helpful and reply extremely fast (via WhatsApp and Mail) to any questions you might have. However, I think they strictly stick to the handout/plan and do not adapt enough to the students' needs. We worked with fill-in/gap texts - a very outdated approach. Nowadays, research shows that a language is best learned through CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) which does not involve gap texts. I am not a fan of this exercise and feel like there are loads of better ways to practice grammar. The hostel is not the best, but alright. I liked that we had curtains for some privacy. Also, the tiny area to do the homework was nice. However, it is not big enough. Also, the place is missing a common area. It is not as easy to meet people as in other places. I talked to loads of people who felt the same. I also don't like that the activities were always just drinking alcohol. Maybe, I was unlucky and other weeks there are better activities? On Monday, we were invited to a drink across the street by the owner, which was very kind. However, after his speech, we got in the morning before our tour (don't drink and focus on studying) a bit contradictory. Btw very nice that we got a tour through the place! :) On Wednesday, there was Tejo (we were told it is a sport and I was looking forward to it). Later, I was told that it is actually about drinking alcohol and throwing rocks - so I skipped this activity. The rooms are clean enough for me and the bed was fine. The kitchen was great. There was an incident including bed bugs in my room. The girl underneath me had bed bug bites (pretty sure - it looked exactly like on the Google pics and the description fitted) the day after, they were fumigating the place - we were not told for what exactly. She told the staff and offered to stripe the bed because she would use another one. They said it wasn't necessary and for the next 3 or 4 days I stayed there, nothing happened. They did not change the bed sheets or anything. I left on Sunday (check-out is in the morning and check-in for the next week in the afternoon) it was still the same. I am wondering if they will actually check the bed for bugs. I liked that they had veggie options for lunch, the area is nice, and I feel like I learned a lot of grammar, which I'll practice now during my travels. I absolutely loved the private lessons with Daniel G. He is simply amazing (he was super energetic, fantastic atmosphere, and explained everything incredibly well, his English is also great in case you can't understand the grammar in Spanish he can explain it very well in English) and think it is great that they included those private classes into the package. If I did it again, I'd only take private classes. All in all, it was not great but still good. I had very high expectations due to all the great reviews - maybe they were too high.

Experiencia fantástica: I really enjoyed my time here. The accommodation is amazing. They have a balcony, 2 modern clean kitchens, guitar, book shelf, comfy beds with curtains and tables to learn Spanish. The classrooms are tiny but u also learn with just a couple of people, so it’s perfect. The lunch and breakfast are really good and big portions. Not only the staff was super nice and helpful. But also the students were super open. It was so easy to make friends. The locations is perfect. There are bars, laundry, cafes and supermarkets just nearby. It’s also safe compared to other places in Medellin. You just walk 15 minutes to the clubs/bars. The teachers are all really qualified. The classes were fun and informative because my teacher also thought us slang words or the history about Medellin. We learned a lot about grammar. The private lessons were extremely helpful. I wish I had more ! I can’t say anything bad about blink just highly recommend it to everyone who wants to improve their Spanish and have a fun time in Medellin.

Experiencia positiva: I stayed 8 weeks at Blink in one of the private studios in the hostel. Overall Blink was a great experience. My Spanish improved a lot and I loved my teachers. The hostel is a hostel so as you can expect it’s not the best in terms of cleanliness and construction, but it was fine. Living and studying here is a great value and you’ll meet lots of people, mostly young backpackers. Ñ Unfortunately a lot of people only stay a week or two so there’s constant turnover. Moreover, Blink will accept more students than they can accommodate and the hostel and classes will be overbooked. They had a hard time giving private classes when I was there because they accepted too many students. This upset a lot of students who previously had been very happy. Overall I’d recommend it for a quick stay, maybe a week or two. But if you’re serious about learning Spanish there are better schools with more serious students and curriculum.

Hola Kelsey, hope you will return someday. We have a new building which gave us 10 more classrooms - we now have 32 in total. Also, all of our new classrooms accomodate 10+ students even though our groups never exceed 6 per class. We also launched master classes since you were here and you can now study with your groups and unlimited master classes in the afternoons. I think we continue to improve. I am glad you had a great time and hope you will return to experience the school in it`s upgraded state.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been in class at Blink School for a week and I am very thankful for this experience! The school is quite big and there were many other backpackers in the accomodation, which makes it a very social place and I have met many nice people! Our class had 6 students, so the teacher could pay attention to everyone. Our teacher Sandra was really motivated and she had a good sense of humour. It was a good way to get all students motivated and enjoy het classes! If I was in Columbia for a longer period I would have take more lessons at Blink Spanish School!

Experiencia positiva: I spent 2 weeks at Blink Spanish school, and had Aura as my teacher for both weeks. She was an amazing teacher, and really made sure we all understood the concepts before moving on. She really made us have a great experience at Blink. There were a few issues with the hostel it's self, we didn't have hot water for the first week, there were problems with the A/C, and a funny smell lingered in the bathrooms.

Experiencia fantástica: Veel geleerd in 3 weken tijd bij Blink. Het hostel ligt op een goede plek. 2 maaltijden per dag is inbegrepen.

Experiencia positiva: I just finished my 2 weeks at Blink and I learned a lot! Everyday we had a 4-hour group lesson with 6 people. I followed that with in total 7 hours of private lessons. My teacher was Aura and she was the best. She explained everything very clearly and was very patient with us. She went in depth about grammar, but I still learned a lot of vocabulary and phrases as well. Besides that, she is just a really nice person. Bonus is that she brings her little dog Café to class! Our little support animal who would chill in class or come cuddle on our laps. If I go back to Blink, I will ask if I can be put in her class again. The breakfast and lunch provided are decent. The hostel of the school could use some work. The beds are nice and big, but the rooms are stuffy, without much ventilation. Our baño had a big smell problem, with an ammonia smell coming from it. We addressed that twice. The staff seemed concerened and apologised, but nothing happened.

Experiencia positiva: PROS : the classes are good, the teachers are competents and the staff at the hostel and at the restaurant is super nice and friendly. The hostel is also very clean. The only downside of the classes is that the pace is very slow so we see very few topics in 20 hours and it sometimes feels like time is being filled with repetitive exercices. CONS : I've read in many comments that Blink is run more like a profit business than a school and I must admit that it's the feeling it gave me as well. At the time I was there they were welcoming 100+ students per week (vs 80 two weeks earlier) but they don't seem to have the capacity to do so. Therefore, they were not able to provide the number of hours of private classes they advertise on their website (they did offer a refund for the lost hours but not at the prorata of the package cost). Also, it feels like they are trying to pack as many people as possible in the hostel and in order to do so they have converted almost every common areas and studying/working spaces either in dorms or classes (they even use the only balcony to teach private lessons in the afternoon) so now there is literaly no quiet place to study neither to meet other people in any of the four buildings Blink owns (and they were actually converting another room of the hostel into a dorm the week I was there). So overall, it feels like the way Christian is managing Blink has unfortunately led to a significant drop in the quality and comfort of their accomodations and services. FALSE ADVERTISING : also, be aware that many of the things you read on Blink's website aren't true. They say you can choose your own accomodation but they actually refuse that you do so unless their hostel is already fully booked*. They also still advertise a free Comuna 13 Tour "that would save you 40.000COP"* even thought the owner told our cohort that this tour has officially been discontinued because Comuna 13 is too busy on weekends. Finally, all packages say there are 2 weekly activities included but that is only partly true : they do organise some activities during the week but those have extra cost and the free activity (visiting Pueblito Paisa the week I was there) is actually being hold on Saturday i.e. after all students staying in a dorm have checked out. *update : those mentions have been removed from Blink's website after some students confronted the owner about their inaccuracy.

Experiencia positiva: To be fair, I like my teacher who is truly dedicated to the job. I learnt a lot from her. Restaurant is good. But below is the negative part: The hostel is a total nightmare, I paid around 160USD/week for a private room and it turned out to be super tiny, no real window, unhealthily humid, moldy and the worst, was really noisy 4 nights out of my one week stay. Weekends were the worst, dozens of people gathered outside my room partying LOUD till midnight and left food, alchol, rubbish right at my door. Drunk people came back at 3am screaming and making crazy noise again. Save your money and with that budget you can get a much better, HEALTHY room in Poblado. And I saw some students complained and the school adminstration immediately deleted their messages and kicked them off from whatsapp group. Not sure if it is an unique way of hospitality or free-speech. Do not expect too much with the quality of private class. You can benefit from it only when you have the luck to be assigned to a responsible teacher. Otherwise your private teacher would be busy checking mobile so he could finish the class 10 minutes earlier. And be ready to be charged some dollars more here some dollars more there. If you ask, they will tell you an imaginary e-mail had informed you that. And the promised Comuna 13 tour was not there and again, without any explaination. No big deal, I am just curious why business has to be conducted in a dishonest way since the owner kept saying he wanted to contribute to the community.

Experiencia positiva: I will try to describe my experience as objectively as I can, but my rather condescending chat with the owner makes it difficult. He said Colombian websites are never up to date, so note: The website had written that you were saving X amount on Comuna13 bi/triweekly tour by studying at Blink (owner later publicly announced that this tour was officially discontinued since it's too busy on weekends). The weekly tour is on Saturdays. "Included activities" during my stay were 1 free beer on Monday, metro to Tejo with one free beer (but not the activity) and the tour to Pueblito Paisa on Sat. The website states: Package price - Deposit but it should be (Deposit - Paypal fees). Not a huge difference, but still annoying as it isn't what is stated online. The owner said that it's everywhere like that. Blink+ package states 5h of private classes, but almost everyone gets 4 instead of 5 (not enough classrooms / too many students / not enough teachers) The bill showed -9.50USD instead of -11.50USD to deduct the hour I wasn't getting. The lady couldn't help, but the owner fixed it on My invoice on the following day. I was in a group class of six: Great teacher, but quite slow paced with tons of group practice. I saw much more in my private class with Yenni who was a great teacher. The staff (cleaning ladies + reception) were super friendly! And reception were ready to speak English would I have wanted to. It was mostly clean with hot showers. The hostel is in probably the most touristic neighborhood in Colombia where everyone speaks English. Not necessarily the best if you want to push yourself learning Spanish. In the hostel, I was given a bed in the Dungeons (capsule bed dorms without a door in the basement beside three bathrooms from which you'd hear everything and with an automatic light when people get up). Don't take the first few beds, the light won't be as annoying and make sure to have earplugs as you hear about everyone talking at the reception as well as the toilets. Before booking, I had requested to choose my own accomodation by email after reading the reviews, which the person denied, but others managed to stay elsewhere. Some other dorms didn't seem that much better than the bunker, nor did some private rooms, with their only window facing a busy corridor. I'd try to check in early on Sunday to maybe have other room options available. Almost every empty space of the hostel of ~70ppl is used for dorms or private rooms: In the afternoon, there's nowhere at all to hang out as the very few common areas available are used for classes (even the balcony which is about the only cool place to hang). Quite difficult to study as well in this situation. They really should remove some beds to provide the hours offered to everyone + chilling spots. Breakfasts were often quite sad but there was always free milk and granola. The lunch, even though the same choices everyday (fish only once), were big and good. If you have the 9:30-1:30 class, you get whatever is left (often no choices for soups and/or juice, and 1-2 meat less). So overall, it's really the false advertisement, the basement dorm and the lack of common spaces that hindered my stay. I would've also really liked having an extra private Spanish class as it was my main reason for choosing Blink. I still learned Spanish at the end of the day and met great people, so I'd still recommend using Blink as a school, but maybe not as a hostel.

Experiencia fantástica: I've been there 3 months and enjoyed a lot and of course learned a lot. Most of the time my teacher was Aura, who is really amazing and knows how to adjust the lesson to the pace of the student and how to make to the lesson pass quickly and be fun. She also has a good English which made the communication much easier whenever I got stuck.

Experiencia positiva: I feel like there are not enough people leaving a review after being done with this hostel. So I will try to write as objectively as possible about my own experience and the general feeling I’ve sensed while I was there during the three weeks. Disclaimer: I say "hostel" because this place should be seen as one. Yes, it is a hostel which happens to offer Spanish classes and NOT a school which offers accommodation. Treat at one and you will not be disappointed. Let's proceed, shall we? Let's start with the negative, because you should be aware of this: I have to agree with what Paul Owens said here in his review (look for the two star review) : the owner cuts corners and will try to fit as many people as possible. Forget about private hours - though advertised on the website, there are not enough teachers to offer you that. I’ve heard multiple students complaining about the fact that the hostel was not able to deliver on their promises. Now imagine how inconvenient this is for someone who spent their money and time to traveled this far and who in the end doesn’t get they were promised? Moreover, this means that you will end up learning tons of grammar in the group classes, but will have to make efforts outside the hostel to practice Spanish. Forget about practicing your Spanish in Poblado. Just forget it. Barely 2 star out of 5 here. From this perspective the place indeed felt like a production line. Now about kind of positive things: I spent three weeks at Blink and am generally happy with how everything worked out FOR ME, though this only because I had zero expectations and VERY IMPORTANT: stayed in a private room (mine was small but a had a window so I loved it! 4 stars out of 5 here) This said, I haven’t lived through the horrors of the so called “Dungeon” (the loud and overcrowded basement dorm which has no air circulation or windows). However, the general vibe I felt at this hostel, regarding the experience, was extremely contrasted. This said, those who stayed in a private accommodation were generally satisfied. The staff was helpful and nice - 5 stars out of 5. Nothing much to say here. In conclusion - Blink is a good place to start. Teachers here are amazing (Cindy, David, Daniel and Mateo get all 5 stars out of 5) and this is why my overall score is 4 stars out of 5 from me. Note : if you can get a private room - DO IT! Otherwise chances are you will end up being miserable and not learn much as this is at the limit of being a party hostel (it's Poblado, baby). If you need survival Spanish - two weeks is enough. I personally stayed for three and left with an ok level of Spanish to Guatemala where I was able to get private classes - much more efficient time and money investment.

Experiencia negativa: Pros: location, great student cohort Cons: Awful 'dungeon' dorm accomodation which was not conducive to relaxing and/or to support my learning experience. Could not fulfill the package I requested. I signed up to private classes only and then was thrown into group classes as the school was oversubscribed. The general vibe is it felt like a production line as opposed to a school community which I had experienced at another school. My opinion is Christian is trying to cut corners to make the most money which negatively impacts some students experience.

Experiencia positiva: Let's start out with the positive: The teachers were amazing and the curriculum, the way they place you, the levels all were very well thought out and provided clarity and a huge amount of progress in my Spanish learning journey. The Negative: The front desk staff were generally rude and unhelpful. The first day I got there, without knowing who I was, where I come from or my level of Spanish, they redirected me to ask a question in Spanish instead of English in a rather rude way that's never ever happened to me before in any of the 6 countries in LATAM I've visited. Also, we'd never do such a thing in the US if someone was speaking spanish if they believed the person they were speaking to spoke Spanish. When it came time to have private class, I asked the hostel's front desk staff where the private class was. They pointed across the street where there were 4 doors. After watching me struggle she said the wood door. (there were two). I knocked on the first wood door twice and waited for 5 minutes each time and then left. About 20 minutes later I get a text from Juan reminding me about my spanish class. I told him the story with the unhelpful receptionist and asked to reschedule. He read the Whatsapp message and completely ignored me. In general it was a good experience but the support staff are genuinely unhelpful and rude. Note: This is not meant to be critical without reason. I hope these comments help the owner improve his business.

Experiencia negativa: During my travels in South America I took classes in various spanish school, and this one was the worst. My teacher spoke mostly in english, showed up to classes at least 10-15 minutes late every day and one time he showed up 30 minutes late with a really bad hangover. Well they promised me to pay me my desposit back if I don’t wanna stay the second week, but nothing happened! I changed to another school in Medellin and could seriously work on my spanish again and improved a lot!

Experiencia fantástica: So far, I have spent 4 weeks at blink, and the amount of progress I have made with my Spanish is absolutely mind blowing. The accommodations are fantastic, the energy of the place is amazing, and also I loved the teaching style of every teacher I have had so far. Vanessa, Julian, Daniel Gaitán, Aura, and Yenny all bring different teaching styles to the table and they are all incredibly effective. The food is amazing, I personally am not a breakfast person so I can’t speak for it (although I’ve heard it’s good) but the lunch is a perfect portion and the cooks do a great job. I personally love the chicken and the beans, but I also would recomendad asking what the menu of the day is since it had never disappointed. You can make plenty of friends here, from the fellow students to the staff, and there’s never really any friction between getting to know new people. The area that the school is located in is one of the nicest areas of Medellin, with lots of restaurants, bars, some clubs about a 10 minute walk away, but it’s also quite quiet at night. I am currently on my last week for now here, but I intend to return in a few weeks! I would recommend this school to anyone.
